BELL ATLANTIC AND NETSCAPE ANNOUNCE LICENSING AGREEMENT

BELL ATLANTIC TO OFFER CUSTOMERS INTERNET SOLUTIONS INCORPORATING NETSCAPE
SOFTWARE

RESTON, VA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (April 10, 1996) -- Bell Atlantic and
Netscape Communications Corporation today announced that Bell Atlantic
will provide co-branded Netscape software to its business and residential
customers. Working with Netscape, Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions, a
newly formed unit of Bell Atlantic, will provide Netscape Navigator client
software to residential customers and a full range of Netscape client and
server software to business customers. As a result both can enjoy
easy-to-use Internet access and business customers will have powerful
tools to create, publish, communicate and manage information over the
Internet and intranets.

Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions will also host its Internet services using
Netscape Enterprise Server software and is one of the first companies to
work with Netscape to develop a customized version of Netscape Navigator
using the new Netscape Navigator Enterprise Configuration Kit. Both
companies also announced their cooperation in having Netscape Navigator
provide support for ISDN, the first time that Netscape has licensed this
capability.

"Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions is excited to be working with Netscape
Communications, a leader in the Internet industry," said Myles Mendelsohn,
leader of the Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions business development team.
According to Mendelsohn, "Netscape Navigator client software is an ideal
tool for our customers to access information on the Internet. Support for
Java and JavaScript, as well as future integration of audio, video and
collaboration features will enhance our customers ability to communicate
and conduct business over the Internet."

"People are clamoring for Internet access both for business and personal
use," said Mike Homer, vice president of marketing at Netscape. "Through
our agreement with Bell Atlantic, we can immediately satisfy that demand
by bringing their customers Netscape Navigator, our easy-to-use, highly
popular client software."

Netscape Navigator client software, an ideal tool for accessing information
on the Internet, offers users not only Internet browsing capabilities but
also built-in email and threaded discussion groups. Users can view live
rather than static information when browsing Web sites and will benefit
from experiencing the full richness of the graphics on these sites. The
Bell Atlantic customized version of Netscape Navigator will provide links
to valuable search services and a comprehensive directory of Web sites,
designed to direct users to local, national and international content.

For business and government customers Bell Atlantic will utilize Netscape
server software to enable companies and organizations to use the Internet
and intranets to collaborate and communicate with peers and customers, and
create, manage and deploy World Wide Web applications.
