Netspeak Licenses DSP Group's Truespeech Technology For Internet
Audio/Telephony Applications

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA -- APRIL 9, 1996 -- DSP Group Inc. and NetSpeak
Corp. announced today that NetSpeak has licensed DSP Group's TrueSpeech
compression technology to enhance the audio quality of its Internet
telephony products.

NetSpeak plans to use TrueSpeech 8.5 in their WebPhone and Business
WebPhone Internet telephone software. The WebPhone products enable
real-time, full duplex, high quality voice conversations over the Internet
as well as over LANs and WANs. NetSpeak plans to start shipping products
using TrueSpeech over the next two months.

This version of TrueSpeech operates at 8.5 kilo bits per second (kbps) with
a compression ratio of 15:1. It is incorporated into Microsoft's Windows
'95 and Windows NT operating systems and will enable WebPhone to be fully
interoperable with speech applications built upon these platforms.

NetSpeak joins a number of major companies including MICROSOFT, INTEL,
PRODIGY, CREATIVE LABS, US ROBOTICS, SONY, PANASONIC, SHARP, CIRRUS LOGIC,
AND SIEMENS who have adopted TrueSpeech for use in a variety of computer
and communications applications.

TrueSpeech provides high voice quality with low data rates, and will
operate on a 14.4 kbps or greater modem. Thus, it is ideal for Internet
audio and telephony applications. DSP Group also offers the TrueSpeech
CT8000 family of co-processors which perform speech compression on PC and
Server add-in cards to offload the CPU. NetSpeak plans to bundle their
software products with cards based on DSP Group's co-processors.

"It is our goal to provide our customers with the best audio quality
available so that their WebPhone conversations are equal in quality to the
telephone connections they are accustomed to," said Stephen R. Cohen,
Chairman and CEO of NetSpeak. "TrueSpeech technology is helping us bring
this voice quality to the Internet."

"We are pleased that an Internet audio and telephony leader such as
NetSpeak has selected TrueSpeech for their applications," said Yuval
Cohen, Vice President of Business development for DSP Group.
"Interoperability is key for Internet communications, and with each
license we move closer to our goal of making TrueSpeech a standard for
high quality communications over the World Wide Web."

About TrueSpeech

DSP Group's TrueSpeech is a family of high quality, low bit rate, speech
compression algorithms with compression ratios of up to 40:1. Several
different versions of TrueSpeech at different compression rates are
available for licensing. In addition to TrueSpeech 8.5 kbps, DSP Group
also offers TrueSpeech G.723 (6.3/5.3 kbps). This version of TrueSpeech
was recently adopted by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
as the G.723 speech coder for the ITU H.324 and ITU H.323 audio and video
conferencing/telephony standards. ITU H.323 has been supported by
Microsoft, Intel, and over 100 other companies as a standard for
communications on the Internet. Within ITU H.323, TrueSpeech G.723 is
currently the only speech coder that will operate on a 14.4 kbps modem.
H.324 is the ITU standard for videoconferencing/telephony over regular
phone lines. It will help enable products from different manufacturers and
different countries to communicate with each other.

TrueSpeech G.723 is based on an advanced algorithm that results in
excellent voice quality despite the high compression rate, and operates at
6.3 kilo bits per second (kbps) and 5.3 kbps with compression ratios of
20:1 and 24:1, respectively. It also includes silence compression which
can bring the effective rate down to less than 3.7 kbps. In Dynastat
quality tests, TrueSpeech G.723 received a 3.98 Mean Opinion Score (MOS)
where a score of 4.0 is considered full toll quality - the quality that is
heard through a regular telephone line.

DSP Group also offers the TrueSpeech Internet Encoder and Player. The
TrueSpeech Internet Encoder enables developers to easily add audio to
their websites - without the need for special server software. The
TrueSpeech Internet Player enables an end-user to listen to these
TrueSpeech files in real-time, streaming through the Internet. DSP Group's
TrueSpeech Internet products were recently awarded a PC Magazine's
Editor's Choice Award.

Over 150 websites currently use TrueSpeech. The TrueSpeech Internet Player
has been bundled with several different Internet browser products, and
each day over 1500 copies are downloaded from the DSP Group website
(www.dspg.com).
