NETMANAGE DECLARES RESELLER/VAR CHANNEL KEY SALES STRATEGY FOR INTRANET
SERVER

Package features the IntraNet Forum Server, the best-of-breed technology
for distributed discussions for the enterprise

CUPERTINO, CA - APRIL 15, 1996 - NetManage (NASDAQ: NETM), the leading
provider of standards-based Intranet solutions, announced today a new
sales strategy regarding the company's ground-breaking IntraNet Server for
the Windows NT platform. Evolving from its traditional focus on direct
sales, NetManage will concentrate on partnering with value-added resellers
to distribute its server package, which became the first Intranet server
for Windows NT to begin shipping as of April 1, 1996.

The IntraNet Forum Server adds a new dimension to the common Web-centric
view of company Intranets by offering the most practical system for
corporate on-line project collaboration, based on open NNTP standards. The
technology provides a powerful yet simple shared communication framework
for any size office environment. The software creates virtual conference
rooms for secure on-line planning sessions, brainstorming, policy
distribution and other mission critical collaboration.

"We are excited about making this industry-leading technology available to
our growing number of channel partners. With the IntraNet Server being
tailored for corporate Intranet use, we see a perfect fit in partnering
with the reseller channel," said Willie Tejada, vice president of product
marketing at NetManage. "There is no question that our IntraNet Server
will offer great financial opportunity for resellers building Intranet
solutions on the NT platform."

While direct sales have been a successful strategy for the company's wide
range of client applications, NetManage believes its agressive new
reseller channel sales group is best suited to market its new line of
server products. According to the company's analysis, most purchasing
decisions for Intranet equipment is happening at the departmental level
instead of through companies' central MIS departments. The service needs
of workgroups making such purchasing decisions often include system
integration and other support from the reseller channel.

"The Intranet explosion is exciting for both NetManage and the reseller
community because it opens up many more opportunities at the department
level within the corporate environment," says Michele Shannon, director of
channel sales at NetManage. "With our partnering focus, where NetManage
Direct Sales Representatives are being compensated on business done
through the channel, we are seeing tremendous growth in channel sales. We
started our Authorized Reseller Program at the beginning of this year and
our growth goals are aggressive."

EFFICIENT, SECURE

Not only is the IntraNet Server the first standards-based server to market
for the Windows NT platform, it also broadens the very definition of
"Intranet" as something greater than solely Web technology. The IntraNet
Forum Server organizes on-line group communication with an efficiency and
performance that Web and e-mail servers cannot match.

Discussion threads provide intuitive context for collaboration, help speed
decision making and offer ready-to-archive capsules of company history.
The server creates a framework for organizing ideas under development, so
workers can maximize productivity with fewer face-to-face meetings, phone
messages and e-mail exchanges.

As secure and functional as any proprietary groupware collaboration system,
the IntraNet Forum Server combines the infinite scalability,
cross-platform access and multi-client support of TCP/IP and Internet open
standards together with the administrative ease and cost effectiveness of
the NT platform.

CUSTOMIZABLE, AFFORDABLE

Using the familiar development tools for the Microsoft environment, such as
Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual FoxPro, Access and ActiveX Controls,
administrators can easily customize their collaboration system on the
client side to fit the precise needs of their work environment. Priced at
under $1,000 (starting at $495 for an introductory period through Q2 '96),
the IntraNet Server is targeted for deployment at the departmental level
of company workgroups. The friendly and cost-effective Windows NT
environment means no investment in expensive UNIX hardware or the
corresponding UNIX system administration expertise.

BEST OF BREED

Objective performance measures of the IntraNet Forum Server outpace any
other vendor's offering. An innovation in the server's resource management
gives tremendous savings in disk storage space. The server's
industrial-strength design is proven to support more than 150,000 messages
a-day - 1.5 gigabytes of traffic - meaning a scalability from a small
office LAN to a world-wide operation of thousands.

Before this enhanced commercial release, the server had already been tested
in thousands of installations for two years on the Internet. In previous
versions it has long been the first-choice among NNTP discussion servers
for Internet Service Providers running Windows NT.

WEB, NFS FILE & PRINT SHARING, DNS AND MORE

Other components of the IntraNet Server package include the IntraNet Web
Server; the IntraNet NFS Server and the IntraNet LPD Server, for file and
print sharing; the IntraNet Directory Server, providing an up-to-date
corporate-wide e-mail address book; a Domain Name Server for speed and
ease of administering TCP/IP addressing requirements, and a Net Time
Server for Intranetwork-wide clock synchronicity.

NETMANAGE CHANNEL SALES

announcement of its Authorized Reseller Program. NetManage Authorized
Resellers are able to sell all NetManage products and are supplied with
reseller pricing, product literature, technical support, regional training
and cooperative marketing opportunities. NetManage has eliminated channel
conflict and promoted a "partnering" concept by compensating the direct
sales force for all business done through the channel.
