NETMANAGE RELEASES INTRANET SERVER FOR WINNT, INTERNET-STANDARDS WORKGROUP
COLLABORATION

Package features the IntraNet Forum Server, the best-of-breed technology
for distributed discussions across any size corporate space

CUPERTINO, CALIF. -- APRIL 1, 1996 -- NetManage (NASDAQ: NETM), the leader
in Intranet solutions for the enterprise, announced today the availability
of the IntraNet Server for the Windows NT platform. The software package
features the IntraNet Forum Server, which adds a new dimension to the
common Web-centric view of company Intranets by offering the most
practical system for corporate on-line project collaboration, based on
open NNTP standards.

The IntraNet Forum Server provides a powerful yet simple and affordable
shared communication framework for any size office environment. Tailored
for corporate Intranet use, the software creates virtual conference rooms
for secure on-line planning sessions, brainstorming, policy distribution
and other mission critical collaboration.

"So far, most corporate Intranets have focused solely on Web technology.
Complete Intranet solutions, however, will consist of using whatever is
the best Internet technology to solve a specific business need," says
Willie Tejada, vice president of product marketing at NetManage. "There is
no question that NNTP is the best technology for group discussion and
collaboration on an Intranet, but this product is the first NNTP server
specifically for the corporate space."

EFFICIENT, SECURE

The IntraNet Forum Server organizes on-line group communication with an
efficiency and performance that Web and e-mail servers cannot match.
Discussion threads provide intuitive context for collaboration, help speed
decision making and offer ready-to-archive capsules of company history.
The server creates a framework for organizing ideas under development, so
workers can maximize productivity with fewer face-to-face meetings, phone
messages and e-mail.

As secure and functional as any proprietary groupware collaboration system,
the IntraNet Forum Server combines the infinite scalability,
cross-platform access and multi-client support of TCP/IP and Internet open
standards together with the administrative ease and cost effectiveness of
the NT platform.

CUSTOMIZABLE, AFFORDABLE

Using the familiar development tools for the Microsoft environment, such as
Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual FoxPro, Access and ActiveX Controls,
administrators can easily customize their collaboration system on the
client side to fit the precise needs of their work environment.

Priced at under $1,000 (starting at $495 for an introductory period through
Q2), the IntraNet Server is targeted for deployment at the departmental
level of company workgroups. The friendly and cost- effective Windows NT
environment means no investment in expensive UNIX hardware or the
corresponding UNIX system administration expertise.

Team members can stay plugged into centralized, constantly updated
information and on-going planning sessions behind their company's
firewalls from wherever and whenever they can log into the Net -- their
office workstation, their home, the road, or a branch location another
continent away.

In addition to standard Intranet firewalls, further security features allow
administrators to limit discussions only to those within a company who
need to know, including the assignment of read-only or read/write
privileges as appropriate.

BEST OF BREED

Objective performance measures of the IntraNet Forum Server outpace any
other vendor's offering. An innovation in the server's resource management
gives tremendous savings in disk storage space. The server's
industrial-strength design is proven to support more than 150,000 messages
a-day -- 1.5 gigabytes of traffic -- meaning a scalability from a small
office LAN to a world-wide operation of thousands.

Before this enhanced commercial release, the server had already been tested
in thousands of installations for two years on the Internet. In previous
versions it has long been the first-choice among NNTP discussion servers
for Internet Service Providers running Windows NT.

OPTIMAL PRODUCT FOR WINNT

The entire IntraNet Server package is native to the Windows NT environment,
as opposed to being retrofitted from a UNIX version. As a result,
NetManage's product is fully integrated into the most robust features of
Windows NT, such as unattended auto-restart and integration with NT
performance monitoring tools.

At the same time, the IntraNet Forum Server is fully interoperable with
UNIX news servers, such as INN, as well as with all popular news readers,
regardless of the client's operating system.

WEB, NFS FILE & PRINT SHARING, DNS AND MORE

Other components of the IntraNet Server package include the IntraNet Web
Server; the IntraNet NFS Server and the IntraNet LPD Server, for file and
print sharing; the IntraNet Directory Server, providing an up-to-date
corporate-wide e-mail address book; a Domain Name Server for speed and
ease of administering TCP/IP addressing requirements, and a Net Time
Server for IntraNetwork-wide clock synchronicity.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The IntraNet Server will be available starting April 2, 1996 for US $995.
NetManage is offering the IntraNet server at an introductory price of US
$495 during the second quarter in which customers will also get one free
copy of our award winning ChameleonNFS for Windows NT a $495 value. This
