High-Performance Lookout Industrial Automation Software Features Native
32-Bit Windows 95 and NT Versions

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- APRIL 18, 1996 -- National Instruments announced today
native, 32-bit, Windows 95 and Windows NT versions of its Lookout
industrial automation software. Lookout, formerly available from
Georgetown Systems as a 16-bit application for Windows 3.x, Windows 95,
and Windows NT-based PCs, now gives users a 32-bit, object-oriented,
event-driven environment for building a wide variety of applications
ranging from simple human-machine interface (HMI) to large, supervisory
control and data acquisition (SCADA) applications. With Windows 95,
Lookout users are better protected from other applications -- each
application has its own thread to the PC processor. Lookout, which
features sophisticated I/O drivers and the powerful CITADEL historical
database, has been used successfully in a wide variety of industrial
applications, including chemical, petrochemical, batch processing, food
processing, pharmaceutical, water and wastewater treatment,
transportation, plastics/glass/metals, energy management, and
manufacturing.

"We make it our priority to provide clients with comprehensive software
tools that take advantage of the ever-increasing power of personal
computers and Microsoft Windows," said Perry Steger, Lookout R&D Section
Manager at National Instruments. "The native, 32-bit versions of Lookout
for Windows 95 and Windows NT deliver on that commitment. Preliminary
tests show that the data logging capabilities alone are almost twice as
fast as the 16-bit version."
