MICROTEST INTRODUCES WORKGROUP CD-ROM SHARING SOLUTIONS FOR NT NETWORKS

DiscPorT PRO and DiscPort Tower Now Support Windows NT

(Phoenix, March 18, 1996)--Microtest Inc., (NASDAQ: MTST), today announced
new additions to its line of products that connect CD-ROM drives to
networks, making CD-ROM titles available to all network users. DiscPort
PRO and DiscPort Towers (7 and 14 drive) now support the Microsoft Windows
NT operating system. Both the DiscPort Tower and the DiscPort PRO employ
native Windows NT security, caching and usage statistics and use a native
Windows graphical interface for CD-ROM resource management.

DiscPort PRO is a high-performance CD-ROM workgroup solution, which can
support up to 14, 6x CD-ROM drives on 10 Mbps networks. It can be used on
any Thin Ethernet or 10BASE-T network connection, and it works with
popular CD-ROM drives, towers and disc changers. A single DiscPort PRO
supports both Novell NetWare and now, Windows NT network operating
systems. Multiple DiscPort PROs can be supported on a network.

DiscPort Towers are complete, network-ready, easy-to-use and install,
turnkey CD-ROM sharing solutions available with either 7 or 14 quad-speed
drives. Like DiscPort PRO, DiscPort Towers plug into any Thin Ethernet or
10BASE-T network. Each Tower supports both NetWare and Windows NT
networks.

According to Dataquest, the combined growth of Windows NT servers and
workstations from 1994-1999 is expected to be 183%. "We recognize the
dramatic growth expected for NT operating systems and we're committed to
bringing our unique CD-ROM networking solutions to NT users," said Ann
Damiano, manager of product marketing. "DiscPort PRO and the Towers mark
our first DiscPort products created for the NT operating environment.
Customers who are using NT networks or who are considering adding NT
systems to their current network, will be pleased that we offer CD-ROM
services beyond NT's native capabilities, such as automatic sharing of
CD-ROM titles and volume-centric security."

These latest product offerings feature Microtest's Automatic Management
Technology that permits users to share CD-ROM titles automatically from
the moment the CD-ROM is inserted in the drive. In addition, Microtest has
created volume-centric security which permits a more appropriate
application of security onto the CD-ROM titles themselves, rather than
associated to the drive. Automatic Management Technology was developed to
make managing and accessing CD-ROM titles on NT and NetWare simple.

Microtest invented 'plug and play' CD-ROM networking when it introduced
DiscPort in 1993. DiscPort was the first product to physically place
networked CD-ROMs within the workgroup, allowing managers to administer CD
resources based on the group's needs. Today, Microtest's complete suite of
CD-ROM networking products incorporates DiscPort Technologies for any
networking environment--workgroups, departments, or throughout the
enterprise.

DiscPort PRO lists for $1,595. DiscPort Tower 7 (7 drive) lists for $4,695
and DiscPort Tower 14 (14 drive) lists for $8,995. The products will be
available worldwide through authorized Microtest distributors at the end
of March. For sales information, call Microtest at 1-800-526- 9675.
