MetaTools Introduces Final Effects AP for Windows NT/95

Gives Adobe Premiere Windows Users Professional Video Special Effects

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 15, 1996 (NAB)--MetaTools, Inc. (NASDQ: MTLS)
today introduced Final Effects AP for Windows NT/95, a set of 16 powerful
video and animation special effects plug-in applications for Adober
Premierer for Windows. Final Effects AP offers video, film and multimedia
producers; animators; CD-ROM and game developers; training, interactive
tutorial and interactive sales and marketing kiosk developers; and digital
video hobbyists, workstation-quality video special effects on their
personal computers.

"Final Effects AP gives Adobe Premiere users the capability to create a
wide variety of compelling special effects," said Steve Kilisky, product
marketing manager for Adobe Premiere for Windows. "With Final Effects AP,
Adobe Premiere Windows NT/95 users can easily create custom elements such
as stars, snow, rain and other particle and special effects that would
normally require specialized skills or more expensive hardware and
applications."

The Final Effects AP for Windows NT/95 particle system, distortion and
stylistic effects, transitions, and color controls allow video
professionals and hobbyists to produce stunning effects similar to those
seen on network television and major motion pictures without the need for
big budgets or costly workstations. With the advanced particle system
generator users can create simple raindrops or a summer downpour, floating
snowflakes or cascading hail storms, hazy smoke or raging fire storms. The
creative possibilities are endless.

Final Effects AP for Windows NT/95 empowers users to discover their own
custom special effects. It offers a virtually unlimited number of dynamic
combinations, with interactive control over even subtle compositing
details. Fast previews reduce costly mistakes, such as unnecessary
renderings. The Final Effects AP interface is a natural extension of
Premiere, enabling even beginners to build new creations from the start.

The suggested retail price for Final Effects AP for Windows NT/95 in the
United States is $199 and will be available through Adobe Authorized
Resellers and MetaTools by the end of the second quarter of 1996. Minimum
system requirements include an IBM PC 486 or compatible with a math
coprocessor; 2MB RAM (sharing host program's memory allocation); 8-bit
video; Windows NT/95 and applications that support 100% Adobe Premiere
plug-ins. A Pentium processor with 16 MB RAM and 24-bit video is
