MICROPOLIS ANNOUNCES NEW ARIES 2 DISK DRIVE

High Performanace, Low Cost Storage Solution At The 2GB Capacity Point

CHATSWORTH, Calif., April 3, 1996 -- Leading high-capacity disk drive
manufacturer Micropolis Pte. Ltd. today announced a new high-performance,
low-cost disk drive for desktop workstations and cost-sensitive RAID
solutions. The new Aries 2 disk drive has a capacity of 2GB in a one-inch
high form factor, features a fast SCSI-2 interface and supports the
industry standard Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology
(S.M.A.R.T.).

"Aries 2 is Micropolis' first product targeted at the mainstream user, as
opposed to our traditional products which cater to very high-end
applications," said Jon Toor, vice president of marketing at Micropolis.
"The drive provides a cost-effective solution without sacrificing capacity
or performance and supports the latest standards in drive technology
including S.M.A.R.T. and Windows 95 plug and play."

Micropolis' Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) is a proprietary data
collection and analysis routine that works hand in hand with the industry
standard S.M.A.R.T. technology. S.M.A.R.T. is a direct response to
accelerating market demand for high availability data storage. This
emerging industry standard enables the disk drive to trigger an alert
condition to the host when any of its vital statistics fall below an
acceptable threshold. The drive can then be proactively replaced before a
failure occurs, preventing costly down time or the loss of critical data.

SCSI Configured AutoMatically (SCAM) is a key feature that, in combination
with Windows 95 and a SCAM compliant SCSI adapter, enables plug-and-play
installation. The system automatically determines all of the configuration
details such as SCSI ID addresses and eliminates the setting of
configuration jumpers or DIP switches. The drive supports tagged command
queuing, read ahead caching, write caching and write coalescing. In
addition, the drive consumes minimum power through the use of Micropolis'
patented power management system, thereby reducing the power supply and
cooling requirements of the system.

The Micropolis Aries 2 disk drive will be available mid-April through
authorized Micropolis distributors and resellers worldwide. The Aries 2
model 4421 has an estimated street price of $549 and is covered by a
3-year warranty. For the location of the nearest Micropolis reseller, call
