Magnet Interactive Takes National Geographic Online And Into The Future

WASHINGTON, DC -- Roam the wild African plains, plunge into the depths of
the darkest oceans, climb the world's highest peaks and make your own
discoveries with the world-renown National Geographic Society -- all via
the Internet. On June 20, National Geographic will be available on the
World Wide Web and CompuServe. Designed and developed by Magnet
Interactive Communications (MIC), a leading online interactive
communications agency, the web site takes National Geographic's resources
and services online opening a world of discoveries to a whole new
generation of National Geographic explorers.

MIC will construct an original, content-intensive web site that not only
highlights National Geographic's current services and resources, but adds
an entirely new component. Assuming the role of a National Geographic
explorer, the user will be able to search for sunken treasure on a virtual
dive with explorers, travel up a Peruvian mountain to find a 500-year-old
mummy, learn how to become a National Geographic photographer, play a game
that teaches how to edit a magazine or study wildlife while learning about
geography, history and diverse civilizations. The user will delve into
National Geographic's award-winning books and renowned maps, send
electronic postcards to friends from exotic locales and talk to the
editors, photographers, cartographers and other experts on the staffs of
National Geographic magazine, World magazine and National Geographic
Traveler.

"Magnet was chosen as our lead developer after an extensive due diligence
process," said Larry Lux, National Geographic's vice president of
electronic publishing. "We feel that they have the unique mix of creative
energy and technical expertise necessary to bring National Geographic to
life online."

"Magnet is thrilled to be the interactive agency chosen to bring over a
century's worth of amazingly rich content into the electronic age," said
Basel Dalloul, chairman and CEO of Magnet Interactive Group, Inc. "Magnet
shares National Geographic's commitment to creating an unrivaled,
innovative online experience that is of the high standard for which the
organization is known."

Due to the content-intensive nature of the web site, MIC will use advanced
back-end database technologies to configure the site so that it can be
easily updated - daily, weekly and monthly. MIC will also utilize the
latest in online commerce technologies to ensure secure online
transactions.
