4 MIGRATION AND COEXISTENCE PROGRAM

CUSTOMER-CONTROLLED MIGRATION SOLUTIONS FOR MICROSOFT MAIL, IBM
OFFICEVISION AND LOTUS CC:MAIL USERS

LAS VEGAS, Nev., April 2, 1996 -- IBM and Lotus Development Corp. today
announced the Lotus Notes Release 4 Migration and Coexistence Program. The
Migration and Coexistence Program is a comprehensive enterprise program
designed to facilitate customer-controlled migrations from IBM
OfficeVision, Lotus cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail. The program also provides
extensive coexistence options that include the Lotus OfficeVision Calendar
Connector, the Lotus cc:Mail Message Transfer Agent (MTA) and special
coexistence packages from SoftSwitch for host-based systems that ease
migration. In addition, the program also introduces the Lotus Notes
Migration and Coexistence Center, which will offer hands-on training,
information and consulting services.

TOOLS FOR RAPID MIGRATION

The Microsoft Mail to Notes Release 4 and cc:Mail to Notes Release 4
migration tools allow customers to migrate their directories, messages
with attachments and folders to the Notes Mail R4 environment. The tools
leverage Notes' distributed architecture and object store to migrate large
numbers of mailboxes simultaneously using multiple Notes servers to
provide a rapid migration. In addition, the systems administrator can
choose to migrate multiple post offices (PO) to a single Notes server or a
single PO can be split and migrated to different Notes servers. Notes
servers use a single object store, which allows enterprise organizations
with large mail files to save disk space.

Microsoft Mail to Notes Release 4 migration tools migrate the following:

 Microsoft Mail directories to Notes server name and address book;
 Messages with attachments to Notes Mail documents;
 Personal address book to user's local name and address book;
 Personal folders to Notes Mail folders;
 Distribution lists to groups in the Notes server name & address book;
 Shared folders to Notes discussion databases.
 cc:Mail to Notes Release 4 migration tools migrate the following:
 cc:Mail directories to Notes server name and address book;
 Messages with attachments to Notes Mail documents;
 Private directory to user's local name and address book;
 cc:Mail archives to Notes Mail archive database;
 Private folders to Notes Mail folders;
 Public mailing lists to groups in the Notes server name & adr book;
 Private mailing lists to groups in the user's local name & adr book;
 Bulletin boards to Notes discussion databases;
 cc:Mail shared message store to single copy object store in Notes.

The Lotus Notes Release 4 Migration and Coexistence Program provides the
most comprehensive plan on the market today for converting OV/VM, OV/MVS
and OV/400 directories and mail files to Lotus Notes Release 4.

IBM OfficeVision to Notes Release 4 migration tools migrate the following:

- OfficeVision directories to Notes server name and address book
  as person documents;

- OfficeVision nicknames and distribution lists to Notes Local Name
  & Address Book in aliases and groups;

ROBUST COEXISTENCE OFFERINGS

To alleviate coexistence problems that can lead to costly disruption during
migration, Lotus is offering specially priced migration packages for
SoftSwitch Central. Packages include software, installation and support
for customers migrating to Notes R4. SoftSwitch, a subsidiary of Lotus
Development Corp., is the leading provider of electronic mail switches
that link disparate electronic messaging systems for businesses. These
specially priced solutions will provide seamless integration and enhanced
communications, including connectivity, directory synchronization and
management, between heterogeneous platforms during migration. The
solutions, available on mainframe operating systems, UNIX and OS/2,
provide robust, high fidelity, manageable messaging infrastructure for
seamless coexistence during migration. To support cc:Mail customers during
migration to Notes R4, the cc:Mail MTA will provide seamless
communications between Notes R4 and cc:Mail, including directory
synchronization, message transfer and a single management environment.

LOTUS NOTES MIGRATION AND COEXISTENCE CENTER: EXPERT MIGRATION RESOURCE

The Lotus Notes Migration and Coexistence Centers will offer training,
information, migration to, and coexistence with, Notes Release 4 from a
wide range of platforms and products, including popular host-based, LAN,
and other systems. The Center will be equipped with major hardware and
software platforms, and will also be staffed with industry consultants to
provide customers and Business Partners with hands-on experience and
methodology training. The Centers are currently open in Dallas, Texas and
Boeblingen, Germany.

LOTUS NOTES SERVICES: PROVIDING DIRECT LINKS TO MIGRATION AND COEXISTENCE
EXPERTS

IBM and Lotus offer a comprehensive and integrated set of service offerings
to customers migrating to Notes R4. Lotus Consulting and IBM ISSC offer
on-site services for environment analysis, strategy development, migration
and coexistence implementation and project management.

In addition to telephone support, including 24X7 operation, IBM and Lotus
Customer Support provide migration/coexistence services such as on-site
support, to assist with installation, and a dedicated Account Manager and
customized migration briefings, which are designed to enable customers to
successfully manage their own migrations.

IBM, Lotus Education and Lotus Authorized Education Centers use innovative
task-based curricula to train users, systems administrators and
application developers on Notes R4. Additionally, Lotus Education is now
offering Accelerated Value Method (AVM) seminars. AVM teaches participants
to develop Notes systems that deliver strategic business value.

The Microsoft Mail to Notes Release 4 migration tools will be available for
general distribution in May, 1996. The cc:Mail to Notes Release 4
migration tools will be available for general distribution in April, 1996.
Both tools are available at no cost by downloading them from Lotus' web
site at http://www.lotus.com.

The IBM OfficeVision to Notes Release 4 migration tools and the Lotus
OfficeVision Calendar Connector coexistence tool will both be available in
the second half of 1996. Pricing for these tools has not been announced.
The special packaging of Soft*Switch products are currently available from
Lotus, IBM and SoftSwitch. Prices begin at $25,000 per package and include
software, installation and support.
