Lexmark Forms Printers 2300 plus Series Offers New Forms-Handling
Flexibility, Increased Speed

LEXINGTON, KY., APRIL 1, 1996 . . . Lexmark International, Inc. today
introduced the Lexmark Forms Printers 2300 plus, a series of enhanced 9-
and 24-pin dot matrix printers that brings unmatched forms handling,
increased speed resulting in up to 30 percent improvement in throughput
and exceptional reliability to the popular Forms Printers 2300 line.

In addition, this series offers a feature exclusive to this class of
printer: Tractor 2, a dual-tractor option, allowing customers to switch
between two separate forms with the touch of a button. For the most
demanding multipart forms jobs, the Lexmark Forms Printers 2300 plus
family is an ideal choice.

While other printers only handle up to four- or five-part forms, the
2380/2381 plus 9-pin models can print as many as six. The Lexmark Forms
Printers 2300 plus paper path provides virtually jam-free printing. These
printers offer customers a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rating of
10,000 hours -- the highest rating of any printer in its class.

The new series includes built-in IBM and Epson emulations to make it
compatible with virtually all popular software programs on the market
today. The printers can connect to all major network systems via Lexmark's
MarkNet XLe print servers.

The line includes four printers: Model 2380 plus (9-pin narrow carriage),
Model 2381 plus (9-pin wide carriage), Model 2390 plus (24-pin narrow
carriage) and the Model 2391 plus (24-pin wide carriage). All of the new
printers are available now. List prices start at $399.

For users who need solid dependable forms printing -particularly in
forms-intensive industries such as transportation, retail, government,
health, education, insurance and banking -- the Lexmark Forms Printers
2300 plus series offers the robustness, speed and flexibility to make
forms printing a breeze. The 9-pin 2380/2381 models print up to 350
characters-per- second (cps), while the 24-pin 2390/2391 models print up
to 300 cps.

Lexmark's new Tractor 2 option -- an exclusive feature in this performance
category -- allows users to simultaneously load two forms and switch
between them with the touch of a button. This new option is perfect for
customers who print labels and forms at the same workstation and ideal for
applications where two forms are commonly used.

UNMATCHED PAPER HANDLING

The 2300 printers offer multiple paper paths, allowing users to choose the
best path for the selected media. For thick multipart continuous-sheet
forms, users can select the standard tractor, attached in either the push
or pull position. For cut sheets, the printers include an easy front-load
sheet feed. There's also a bottom feed path to handle high-volume
continuous forms straight from their carton. No other printer at this
price/performance level can deliver such versatility.

In addition, the Lexmark Forms Printers 2300 plus can print on labels,
postcards and envelopes. Users can also print bar codes. The 2300 printers
come with support for seven commonly used bar code fonts -- including U.S.
Postal Service-certified POSTNET -- already built in. Both the wide- and
narrow-carriage models let you print on media sizes ranging from short and
narrow (3x3 inch) to extra-long (22 inches).

The new printers include a full two-year LexExpress Warranty. Under the
terms of this warranty, if customers should have a problem with their
printer, LexExpress guarantees 24-hour shipment of a replacement printer
at Lexmark's cost.

Low operating costs, reliable printing and improved performance are the
foundations of the Lexmark Forms Printers 2300 plus family. Printer
ribbons are interchangeable between narrow and wide carriage models and
are compatible with previous 2300 printers, allowing users to save money
by efficiently managing their inventory of supplies.
