Legato Systems Announces NetWare Storage Management Enhancements to
NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare

WINDOWS 95 ALSO ADDRESSED WITH NEWLY RELEASED NETWORKER CLIENT FOR WINDOWS
95

Legato Systes, a leader in the enterprise storage management software
market, today announced NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare, an updated release of
its network storage management software that boosts performance by 15
percent and features a new media database that is as much as 300 percent
faster than earlier releases. This product represents Legato's continued
commitment to broaden the scope of its solutions for the enterprise
network marketplace.

"The latest release of NetWorker for NetWare is simpler to implement, more
powerful, more scalable, yet is faster than earlier versions of our
leading storage management solution for NetWare and mixed environments
containing UNIX, Macintosh, Windows NT, and DOS/Windows systems," said
Edward Cooper, Corporate Director of Strategic Communications for Legato
Systems. "It also provides greater interoperability than ever before,
supporting Legato's recently released Macintosh, Windows 95, and Windows
NT Client software."

"Legato continues to demonstrate its leadership in storage management with
this release. Performance, ease of use, scalability, flexibility, and
manageability are the top characteristics administrators want in these
products. All have been addressed in NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare, a world
class solution," stated Michael Peterson, president of leading independent
industry research firm Strategic Research Corporation, Santa Barbara,
California.

NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare includes a new feature called SmartMedia which
allows for "pools" of backup tapes to be created, each with its own set of
rules specifying how tapes in the pool are to be used. Several common
rules are predefined, but these can be edited to suit particular needs.
Alternatively, entirely new sets of rules can be easily created.

"NetWorker's SmartMedia has provided us with an explicit way to group data
from one or more clients onto a particular set of media," said Michael
Kaunitz, director of networking at Donovan Data Systems, New York, NY. "In
addition, the media pools let us group different types of backup jobs onto
different sets of media, and allow us to bundle data for routing to the
fastest storage media available. Furthermore, unlike most competitive
offerings, NetWorker can support operations for several media pools
concurrently."

Bill Mason, senior director, ISV Marketing, Novell, Inc., Provo, UT, said,
"As the popularity of NetWare 4 continues to grow in enterprise networks,
the need for enhanced storage management capabilities in these networks
has increased as well. NetWorker Version 4.0 for NetWare addresses this
requirement with a product that will meet the high performance
expectations of NetWare users."

NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare includes a Windows-based Setup program that
empowers administrators to install the product on any NetWare server on
the network from any CD-ROM-equipped workstation. Once installed,
NetWorker for NetWare also streamlines server configurations by
automatically supporting savesets greater than 4 gigabytes.

With its enhanced Autochanger support option, NetWorker 4.0 for NetWare can
back up to, and restore from, as many as five autochangers simultaneously
to provide an effective storage capacity growth path and greater
redundancy alternatives. Four new autochangers are also supported (Quantum
DLT2500XT, DLT2700XT, DLT4500, and DLT4700).
