InterAct '96 Launches World Wide Web Java Contest Sponsored by JavaWorld

JavaWorld and Java Applet Rating Service (JARS) sponsor InterAct '96 Java
Contest

MARLBOROUGH, MA -- InterAct '96, the world's first virtual trade show in
conjunction with JavaWorld and Java Applet Rating Service (JARS) today
launched its first annual Java Contest for Java programmers around the
globe. Leading Java Programmers will submit their innovative Applets to a
panel of judges from JavaWorld and JARS for consideration. The winning
Applets will be announced at the InterAct '96 virtual trade show on April
25 and the top applet entrant will receive a trip for two to Jamaica.

Java programming language allows small applications to be downloaded across
the Internet and run within Internet browsers. Java is currently used in
the development of some of the most innovative Web applications. These
types of applications will be featured at the InterAct '96 virtual trade
show from April 23 - 25.

Java programmers are encouraged to enter their most creative and innovative
applets to the contest by April 15th for review. Submitted Applets will be
adjudicated based on presentation, content, visual appeal, quality,
graphics, programming-difficulty, function, and originality of design.
