IQ SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES IQ/LIVEWEB

Access, Report and Publish Corporate Data "On-Demand" Over the Internet

Atlanta (April 16, 1996) - IQ Software (NASDAQ:IQSW), a leading supplier of
client/server end-user decision support solutions, today announced a new
Internet product called IQ/LiveWeb. IQ/LiveWeb provides on-demand access,
analysis, reporting and publishing of information from corporate databases
on Web servers. This allows corporations to tap the Internet
infrastructure for information access and dissemination using standard
Internet browsers.

IQ/LiveWeb is built upon IQ Software's leading three-tier architecture and
object-based query and reporting tools. In addition, IQ Software is
introducing a new technology called IQ/CyberLinks. IQ/CyberLinks provides
universal hyperlinking and intelligent navigation among documents,
Internet data sources, and data on corporate servers and personal
workstations.

"By integrating its three-tier architecture with the Internet, IQ Software
is taking end-user decision support to new heights," said Bob Moran, a
leading industry analyst with the Aberdeen Group. "IQ/LiveWeb offers a
powerful and scaleable solution to easily access, report and publish
information on-demand from corporate databases."

IQ/LiveWeb takes advantage of the advanced functionality of IQ Software's
award-winning IQ/Objects and IQ/SmartServer. IQ/SmartServer, the first
implementation of three-tier architecture for data access solutions, is a
natural fit for the server-based processing required by Internet/Intranet
applications. IQ/Objects, a true object-based data access tool provides
sophisticated reporting and hyperlinking of its output documents.
IQ/LiveWeb allows users and IT professionals to submit queries to
corporate databases, schedule them on powerful UNIX or NT servers for
execution, and publish them transparently on Web servers. The publishing
is accomplished by producing HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) or PDF
(Portable Document Format) output formats.

"IQ/LiveWeb delivers corporations the tools they have needed to make the
most of the volumes of information available in corporate databases," said
Rick Chitty, CEO and president of IQ Software. "These innovative tools
make it easy for companies to utilize the World Wide Web infrastructure to
provide on-demand database information to employees, customers and
business partners."

In a separate announcement today, Hewlett-Packard announced a program that
integrates HP Open Warehouse Web with IQ Software Internet decision
support tools. This initiative delivers secure access to corporate data
warehouses and dynamic Web query and reporting capabilities.

"Users have a real need for over-the-Internet access and publishing
capabilities for the ever-changing information in their corporate
databases," said George Ferguson, OpenWarehouse program manager of
Hewlett-Packard. "The combination of the secure HP Open Warehouse Web and
the powerful IQ Software Internet decision support tools allows them to
tap into their corporate databases and publish the information to Web
servers on demand."
