IN FOCUS SYSTEMS SETS A NEW STANDARD FOR PORTABILITY AND IMAGE QUALITY WITH
ITS NEW POWERVIEW 820 MULTIMEDIA PROJECTION PANEL

The PowerView 820 is the Lightest and Brightest 800 x 600 Active-Matrix
Multimedia Panel and the First With Advanced Ease-Of-Use Features and
Modular Architecture

WILSONVILLE, ORE. - April 2, 1996 - In Focus Systems today introduced the
PowerView 820, the lightest and brightest 800 x 600 active-matrix
multimedia projection panel available, and the first with advanced
ease-of-use features and modular architecture. Priced as low as $4,499,
the PowerView 820 weighs under five pounds, making it ideal for mobile
professionals who present and share computer graphics, audio and video in
business meetings, sales presentations, training sessions or software
demonstrations.

With a full-size, highly transmissive liquid crystal display (LCD), the
PowerView 820 sets the standard for brightness, image quality and
portability with its sleek and lightweight design. The PowerView 820
provides an extremely portable multimedia system when combined with a
notebook computer and overhead projector. Completely plug-and-play, the
PowerView 820 was engineered to project a high-quality image, "out of the
box," without requiring adjustments typically associated with set-up of
conventional LCD projection panels. At an affordable price point for
businesses and classrooms alike, the PowerView 820 is also first in a
family of products from In Focus Systems to offer advanced user-friendly
features, and custom computer and video input modularity.

"In Focus Systems is proud to have a history of bringing users the broadest
and most portable line of projection panels," said Mark Reed, vice
president of sales, marketing and service for In Focus Systems. "The
PowerView 820 sets the standard once again, by offering superior image
quality, multimedia functions and ease-of-use features."

Reliable Design for the "On the Go" Presenter

The PowerView 820 uses an enhanced, 10.4-inch diagonal active-matrix LCD
that, when combined with the panel's sleek, low-profile design, is 50
percent more transmissive than other projection panels. With a palette of
16.7 million colors, the PowerView 820 offers true SVGA, 800 x 600
resolution, and is compatible with computers displaying 1,024 x 768. The
PowerView 820 is compatible with most PC and Macintosh computers.

Designed for the traveling professional, the PowerView 820 weighs less than
five pounds and measures just 1.5 (h) x 12.25 (w) x 12 (l) inches.
Controls requiring manual adjustments are color-coded and marked with
familiar icons for quick and easy set-up.

The PowerView 820 is a fully integrated multimedia panel with hi-fidelity
sound from a internal speaker. Displaying crisp video images, the
PowerView 820 projects superior full-motion video as a result of In Focus
Systems' proprietary digital video processing technology. With a contrast
ratio of 100:1, and a 25-millisecond response time, the PowerView 820
supports worldwide video standards, including NTSC, and PAL and SECAM at
full resolution. The PowerView 820 also has audio loop-through for
controlling external speakers. A Universal Power Supply allows the panel
to be used with power sources worldwide.

A Suite of User-Friendly Features

The design of the PowerView 820 sets a new standard for easy-to-use
multimedia projection with an innovative suite of features including In
Focus Systems' advanced electronics, sophisticated embedded software and
user interface, next generation "Smart Remote," and revolutionary
CableWizard(tm), all of which incorporate familiar icons from consumer
products to help guide users during assembly and use.

In Focus Systems custom ASIC provides auto-sensing and software that
eliminate time-consuming and difficult sync, tracking and position
adjustments associated with conventional multimedia projection panels. The
software in the PowerView 820 automatically identifies and interprets the
computer and video signals coming into the panel and adjusts it for
optimal image quality.

For custom adjustments, a new user interface, with on-line help, guides
users through the Picture, Audio and Display settings. Point-and-click
menu selections are made using the new Smart Remote.

The handheld infrared Smart Remote makes it easy to control the PowerView
820 without interrupting a presentation. The size of a typical television
remote, the Smart Remote features large backlit buttons with familiar
icons and tactical response for controlling a PC or Macintosh computer
from up to 40 feet away.

In Focus System's intelligent CableWizard allows users to easily connect
their computer, audio, mouse and monitor loop-through to the PowerView 820
through an all-in-one system. Powered by an embedded microprocessor, the
CableWizard eliminates unsightly cables and gives the user added computer
placement flexibility for a more professional presentation. Compatible
with most PC and Macintosh personal computers, the CableWizard comes
standard with a nine-foot cable. An optional 40-foot extension cable is
available, requiring no amplification.

The unique modular design of the In Focus Systems family of new products
protects the users' investment by providing a cost-effective method for
customizing the product to meet specific application requirements. The
modular architecture provides a sensible solution for integrating future
product enhancements, thereby extending the product's capabilities.

Lowering the Price Barrier

The modular architecture of the PowerView 820 allows In Focus Systems to
competitively price a computer graphics panel at $4,499 (U.S. list). The
suggested price for a PowerView 820 multimedia system with computer
graphics and video support is $4,999 (U.S. list). The PowerView 820 is
available immediately through authorized In Focus Systems resellers and
distributors worldwide. All In Focus Systems' projection products include
a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
