IBM Solution Developer Program Streamlines Developer Support

NASHVILLE, Tennessee, April 23, 1996...IBM today announced that it is
streamlining developer support with its new Solution Developer Program.

Members will retain the services developers have always had from IBM, but
will also now benefit from the new ways IBM has created to help developers
take their products to market.

The announcement was made at the IBM Technical Interchange, an annual
developers conference where over 3,000 developers from all over the world
are on hand. The conference showcases the latest in IBM software
technology through intensive tutorial sessions, general elective sessions
and exhibits covering areas such as the Internet, application development,
and even a peek at the next era of personal computing...speech
recognition.

Attendees were enthusiastic about the Solution Developer Program. "This new
program makes working with IBM much easier," said Brad Wardell, president,
Stardock Systems, Inc. "Before, developers could sometimes get confused
trying to navigate the various offerings from IBM. Now all the information
we need is in one location. It's great."

The Solution Developer Program was formed to help commercial solution
developers grow their business in IBM hardware and software platforms and
technologies and is the framework that ties together all of IBM's current
developer assistant programs under a family of developer programs. This
framework is the first step to providing assistance with Technical
Support, Business Services and Marketing Support.

"We are providing a program that helps developers acquire the services they
need and offers a free information tier with access to fee-based programs
and services," said Howie Hunger, director, Solution Developer Programs.
"Quite simply, we are making it much easier for these companies to do
business with IBM.

Success for Developers

According to Hunger, IBM has three very straightforward goals for the
Solution Developer Program.

IBM will help developers by giving them the support they need to
successfully build products on IBM platforms and middleware, and by
providing easy, early access to information, tools and leading-edge
technology. IBM can help developers gain competitive advantage through
lower development costs and/or decreased time to market.

IBM will work with developers to extend market access around the world by
providing lead generation and delivering sales catalogues and marketing
materials promoting developer applications.

The Solution Developer Program provides general support for all developers
and in-depth support for those working on OS/2*, AIX*, Object Technology,
DB2*, AS/400*, S/390*, SystemView*, CICS*, MQSeries*, Distributed
Computing, ImagePlus* and FlowMark*. There is also retail and enterprise
communications support. Members receive information through the Solution
Developer Program home page at http://www.developer.ibm.com/ or via postal
mail. To register, developers should access the program's home page. or
call 770/835-9902 worldwide, 800/627-8363 in the U.S. and Canada.
