Coming to a Printer Near You: Mickey, Donald and the Gang

New HP Printer Comes with Disney Interactive Software, Crafts Kit for
Family Entertainment

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 22, 1996 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
introduced a color home printer that comes with Disney Interactive's
Mickey and Friends Print Studio CD-ROM and new home-craft software for
family entertainment.

The printer is part of a new line of color home printers with built-in
banner printing. Prices start at about $300. The DeskJet 680 series
printers are perfect for creating banners, greeting cards and a variety of
home crafts, as well as for everyday family printing.

"The DeskJet 680 series printers enable people to make a lasting impression
with their ideas and creations," said Michelle Hamilton, HP home printers
product manager. "If you can dream it and create it on your PC, you can
print it. The experience doesn't end when you turn off the computer."

HP MAKES COOL PROJECTS A SNAP

The DeskJet 682C printer makes family projects easy. With the new printer,
customers can create a Disney birthday party, from invitations to
placemats and other decorations; produce creative greeting cards and
stationery; create personalized coloring pages and bookmarks that come
alive with Mickey and his friends; and turn their refrigerators and
bedroom walls into art galleries with cards, calendars and other
creations.

The printer comes with the HP Home Project Kit, which includes three
components:

* Disney Interactive's Mickey and Friends Print Studio includes more than
200 images of Mickey, Donald, Goofy and the rest of the gang. Customers
can choose from more than 15 print projects and a variety of page layouts,
with just a point and click. The Mickey and Friends Print Studio is for
non-commercial personal and family use only.

* PrintPaks Family Fun Kit is a new multimedia craft kit designed for color
inkjet printers. The kit provides everything families need to create
magnets, window art and banners, including software featuring 50 specially
designed images from PrintPak's unique library, as well as all the
magnets, frames, string and suction cups.

* The special media kit, including HP greeting card stock, envelopes and
HP's new banner paper, allows banners to be printed on a single,
continuous sheet of paper instead of individual pages that must be taped
together.

HP BRINGS QUALITY HOME

The HP DeskJet 680 series printers are high-quality, reliable color inkjet
printers that provide spectacular image quality with HP's RealLife Imaging
System. This integrated suite of HP technologies automatically provides
customers with vivid colors and sharp black with no special paper
required. For instance, ColorSmart automatically selects the best settings
for images, text and graphics, reducing color printing to a single click.

DeskJet 680 printers provide speedy performance at up to 5 pages-per-minute
(ppm) for black and 1.5 ppm for color. The printers include a variety of
family-friendly features, such as two-sided printing, quick set-up and
easy driver installation. HP's Printer Toolbox gives customers immediate
on-screen information for solving common printing problems and for
performing tasks such as printing envelopes and banners, as well as
feedback such as "out-of-paper" or "insert black or color cartridge."

The DeskJet 680 series printers have a one-year limited warranty and have
earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star designation
for low power consumption, using approximately 80 percent less energy than
dot-matrix printers.

U.S. PRICES AND AVAILABILITY

The DeskJet 682C printer is expected to sell for about $329. In addition to
the DeskJet 682C printer, the new series includes the DeskJet 680C and
DeskWriter 680C printers. The DeskJet 680C printer is identical to the
DeskJet 682C printer, but it is packaged without the Home Project Kit. It
is expected to sell for about $309 and is available through computer
resellers. The DeskWriter 680C printer, available at the same price, is
designed exclusively for Macintosh computers and is expected to be
available through retail stores and computer resellers on July 1. The
DeskJet 680 series printers replace the HP DeskJet 660 series printers,
the industry's best-selling printers since their introduction in 1995.
