Worldgroup 2.0 Web Applications Suite Released

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - April 22, 1996 - Today Galacticomm, Inc. shipped the
final release of Worldgroup 2.0, the company's client/server application
suite for Windows 95, Windows NT, and Windows 3.1 users over corporate
intranets and the Internet. Serving as "extended groupware", Worldgroup
2.0 provides an interactive environment for people inside an organization,
as well as remote field staff, dealers, customers, and prospects to
securely work together over the Web.

The Worldgroup 2.0 client is available as a free plug-in for Netscape
Navigator, and allows Web users to seamlessly launch into Windows- native
Worldgroup applications from regular HTML pages. "The Netscape plug-in is
an innovative concept," said Jack Lail, Online Publishing Manager for the
Knoxville News-Sentinel, a Galacticomm customer. "It will add another
dimension to what we've been doing with our Web site."

The Worldgroup 2.0 server, which starts at $595 list for eight simultaneous
connections, includes its own basic Web server, or it can be used in
conjunction with Web servers by Netscape, O'Reilly, Microsoft, and
Quarterdeck. TCP/IP connectivity is included in the base package. Options
support direct modem, ISDN, X.25, and Novell LAN connections.

"The biggest challenge that corporate Webmasters face today is the rapid
development of applications over the Web," stated Galacticomm's president
and CEO Scott Brinker. "We can make even a novice Webmaster look like a
wizard with Worldgroup 2.0 ( he simply plugs in our server with his
existing Web site, configures a few options to his taste, and brings
online sophisticated data collection, organized file libraries, real-time
script-format teleconferencing with a shared white board, rich-text group
messaging, and more. "

The basic Worldgroup 2.0 package includes four "extended groupware"
applications:

* POLLS AND QUESTIONNAIRES can be used to quickly create branching surveys
and electronic data collection forms, with automatic statistics
calculation, "rewards" of files or security access levels upon completion,
and an export feature to feed external database programs.

* FILE LIBRARY for managing thousands of files online, organized into
categories, each with its own non-hierarchical security controls and
category managers. This facility goes beyond regular ftp to provide file
descriptions, keyword searching, chronological or alphabetical ordering,
upload approval management, and more.

* TELECONFERENCING for real-time scripted chats between up to 256
simultaneous users, including support for moderated channels, private
whispers, background file transfers, URL recognition, and a shared white
board for group illustrations.

* GROUP MESSAGING with support for rich-text format messaging, distribution
lists, file attachments, keyword searching, forum moderators, embedded
URLs, and offline operation. Up to 10,000 group discussion areas can be
created, each with configurable security levels for read-only, read/write,
and co-op participation by individuals or classes of users. An NNTP
newsgroup filter is also available.

All of this is provided in a framework of account management, usage
reporting and analysis, and class-organized security access control. Full
SMTP e-mail and an HTTP 1.0-compliant Web server is built into the
software. Worldgroup 2.0 can also work with other STMP mail systems or Web
servers. "Worldgroup 2.0 is an all-in-one solution for a small to
medium-sized organization to quickly and inexpensively launch a Web site
with interactive customer-focused applications ready to go," added
Brinker.

Worldgroup 2.0 can be expanded from supporting eight simultaneous
connections to over 200 simultaneous connections, in license increments of
six simultaneous connections at a time, through User Six-Packs available
for a list price of $295 each. The Dial-Up Option for direct modem and
ISDN connections, as well as the Novell LAN Option, list for $295 each.
The X.25 Software Option is available at a list price of $995. In addition
to the base applications, many plug-in modules are available for
Worldgroup from Galacticomm and a number of Independent Software Vendors.
Galacticomm offers Omni-Mall, a sophisticated client/server catalog sales
environment; and Fax/Online, an integrated fax database solution primarily
focused for intranet use. Other add-ons include photograph databases,
document search engines, scheduling management, classified ads,
interactive publishing, and more. These add-ons can be easily installed at
any time to a Worldgroup system, via a scaleable architecture designed for
dynamic expansion.

A Worldgroup Developer's Kit enables enterprise developers to extend the
product's capabilities with Visual Basic and C++. The source code for
Worldgroup client and server components is readily available, along with
extensive API documentation. The Worldgroup platform provides a richer
environment than Java for interactive Windows applications over the Web,
with a multi-threaded/multi-priority client/server engine.

Worldgroup 2.0 is distributed through Ingram Micro, Tech Data, and
DistribuPro, and is readily available from the company's international
network of resellers and VARs. The company has been providing
communications software products since 1985. Corporate users of Worldgroup
include Compaq, AT&T, Citibank, and W.R. Grace.
