Farallon Expands ISP Program with Help Desk Support

ALAMEDA, Calif., April 1, 1996 -- Farallon Computing, Inc., today announced
that it has expanded its Netopia Internet Solution Partner Program (NISPP)
to include help desk support that Internet service providers (ISPs) can
provide their customers for increased customer service. The NISPP program,
launched last October, is designed to expand the channels by which
individuals, workgroups, small to medium size businesses, and schools can
obtain Farallon's Netopia Internet Solution. Part of the solution includes
the Netopia Internet routers, which enable a network of users to connect
to the Internet via a shared ISDN line.

For the majority of computer users, those in workgroups, direct connection
to the Internet has been expensive and complex. By developing the Netopia
product and the ISP program, Farallon is able to provide workgroups with
affordable and easy-to-use Internet access solutions through their local
and national ISPs.

Help Desk Support

Farallon is offering ISPs an innovative way to support customers by
including its Timbuktu Pro remote access software into the NISPP program.
With Timbuktu Pro, ISPs will now be able to observe or control a
customers' computer screen to identify and resolve problems.

ISPs have several ways to take advantage of this offer. They can obtain a
license to post Farallon's Look@Me Internet applet on their web site so
that customers can download the free applet to have the ISP help desk
observe their customer's screen to identify problems, provide just-in-time
training, and talk the customer through a solution.

ISPs will also receive 10 copies of the full-featured Timbuktu Pro software
for use internally and for their help desk personnel. Finally, ISPs can
purchase 25-packs of Timbuktu Pro at a special price of $999 that can be
resold on an individual license basis.

"Farallon's unique help desk program for ISPs lets me offer the superior
level of service my customers expect from me," said Steve Deane, marketing
director of World Touch in Pleasant Hill, California. "Thanks to Timbuktu,
I was recently able to remotely ensure that an educational customer had
everything working perfectly for an Internet demonstration with President
Clinton."

Netopia ISP Program Highlights

Through the program, ISPs will be able to:

- Purchase the Netopia ISDN Internet routers and modems directly
  from Farallon for re-sale
- Offer a lease option for the Netopia ISDN Internet routers to
  customers
- Ask Farallon to pre-configure the Netopia Internet routers for
  their customers
- Use Farallon's Timbuktu Pro software to provide customers with
  immediate help desk support
- Receive a dedicated phone number for Farallon support
- Host a Listserv forum on Farallon's highly-rated and popular
  web site
- Obtain market development funds to promote joint programs
- Leverage Farallon's extensive customer database for joint mailings

ISPs interested in differentiating themselves by providing remote support
across the Internet can contact Farallon at (510) 814-5382 to receive
additional information or sign up for the program.

Farallon is continually seeking new and innovative ways to support its
distribution channel. "Farallon would like to have ISPs differentiate
themselves and provide value-added service to their Netopia customers,"
said Doug Lifton, vice president of business development/OEM sales at
Farallon. "Because ISPs are responsible for placing much of the
Internet-related hardware in customer sites, we believe that the addition
of our help desk program and the unique ease-of-use orientation of our
Netopia family will benefit both our partners and customers seeking
hassle-free, high-speed access to the Internet."
