DIGI INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES RIGHTSWITCH FOR DESKTOP/WORKGROUP
ENVIRONMENTS

IMPROVES NETWORK PERFORMANCE BY REDUCING BOTTLENECK THAT TYPICALLY OCCURS
AT THE SERVER

March 27, 1996 -- MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. -- Digi International Inc. today
announced the RightSwitch, a 10 Mbps internal Ethernet switch, that
increases Ethernet network performance by providing dedicated 10 Mbps
connections to workgroups or individual users. The new Digi product
provides a direct high-speed switch/server connection of up to 1 Gbps
resulting in dramatic performance increases that reduce the bottleneck
that typically occurs between the switch and the server.

RightSwitch, which connects directly to the server bus and replaces
existing Ethernet adapter cards, provides four switch ports on the EISA
card and six ports on the PCI card. It is ideal for desktop/workgroup
environments that are running data-intensive applications such as database
access, interactive graphics, video imaging, and multimedia. In addition,
it offers driver support for Novell NetWare, Microsoft Windows NT, SCO
Unix and UnixWare.

"Today, network managers are looking for a solution that provides a clean,
high-bandwidth connection between the desktop and the server," said
Esmeralda Silva, senior analyst with International Data Corp. "Digi's
RightSwitch can deliver that missing link."

"This announcement signals Digi's move to broaden its line of Ethernet
networking products in the rapidly growing switching marketplace," said
Gary L. Deaner, Digi International vice president and general manager of
the LAN Connect business unit. "RightSwitch offers an ideal solution for
workgroup network congestion that can be caused by an increasing number of
users or by data-intensive applications."
