DATA GENERAL AND OTG SOFTWARE SIGN OEM AGREEMENT FOR WINDOWS NT OPTICAL
STORAGE SOFTWARE

AIIM BOOTH #531

CHICAGO, April 1, 1996 -- Data General Corporation's Imaging Business Unit
and OTG Software, a division of Optical Technology Group, Inc., announced
today that Data General will resell OTG's DiskExtender software for
Windows NT. The OEM agreement solidifies an ISV (Independent Software
Vendor) relationship begun in 1995 to provide advanced imaging and storage
solutions for Windows NT in enterprise environments.

"Today's announcement further strengthens our commitment to offer
best-of-breed solutions to our customers," said William Zastrow, vice
president of Data General's Imaging Business Unit. "Our partnership with
OTG supports our unwavering focus on the NT server market."

"Our relationship with Data General has proven to be very beneficial," said
Richard Kay, president of OTG Software. "We are pleased to provide the
first Windows NT mass storage solution for Data General and look forward
to continued success in the years to come."

Data General's complete line of imaging solutions, AV cold, Staffware
workflow, Express-Track, as well as its award-winning AV Image software,
supports the OTG software solution.

OTG's DiskExtender software for Windows NT is an intelligent level-1
hierarchical storage management solution that is compatible with Data
General's AViiON servers, CLARiiON disk arrays and imaging products. OTG's
intelligent storage features such as security, remote administration,
mixed media support (WORM, erasable optical and CD-ROM) and multiple
levels of caching will complement Data General's CLARiiON RAID mass
storage solutions.

By combining the CLARiiON line's industry leading high-availability,
fault-tolerant RAID mass storage capabilities with the economical, high
capacity features of optical storage, Data General can now offer a
complete storage solution for all client/server needs.

AV Image 2.0, Express-Track and Staffware run on the entire family of Data
General's AViiON servers and support the company's extensive line of
CLARiiON RAID technology-based storage systems. Data General's latest
AViiON server systems, based on industry-standard Intel processors,
continue to leverage the company's technical strengths in areas required
to serve today's NT and enterprise markets. The new systems complement
Data General's Motorola-based AViiON servers, running either the Windows
NT and DG/UX enterprise operating systems.

Data General Corporation, based in Westboro, Massachusetts, specializes in
servers, storage systems, and related software and services for customers
worldwide. The company reported revenues of $1.2 billion for fiscal 1995.
