Bionic Knight Unveils New Features, New Pricing for DEED PDM Software for
32-bit Windows

DEED 3.0 Now Offers Command Support for AutoCAD, New Automatic Links that
Cut Data Entry Time in Half, and New Pricing for Engineering Workgroups

BOCA RATON, Florida (April 8, 1996) - At PDM Conference '96 being held here
this week, Bionic Knight Software, Inc., of Raleigh, North Carolina, will
demonstrate a number of new features incorporated into DEED 3.0, the
company's 32-bit object-oriented Product Data Management (PDM) solution
for Windows, Windows 95, and Windows NT. DEED has been streamlined with
more efficient links between drawings and document associations, new
AutoCAD attributes have been added, and DEED now supports six approvals
for drawings and documents. A new licensing structure also makes it easier
to deploy DEED in enterprise computer networks.

DEED is a Dynamic Engineering Expert Database that gives engineers and
designers a central point of control over CAD drawings and documents via a
comprehensive system of check out, approval, and check in procedures. With
DEED, engineers can not only manage CAD/CAM drawings, but they can also
manage all the parts required for product assembly, and all the documents
and data associated with those parts through a single central database.
With the new features added to DEED, there is even more direct support for
AutoCAD, and automated links that make parts and document tracking more
efficient than ever before.

"Bionic Knight's customers have been making extensive use of the close
integration DEED offers with AutoCAD, so we decided to extend support with
a new set of commands to add drawing title block attributes," explained
Barbara Crook, Vice President of Marketing for Bionic Knight Software and
a chief architect of DEED. "We have also streamlined the software with new
automatic links that cut input time in half, and we have made it easier
than ever to find drawings stored in the database. With these new
features, DEED 3.0 gives PC users the same kind of PDM power that
engineers expect from more expensive UNIX systems."

New Features in DEED 3.0

AutoCAD users gain an additional advantage with DEED through special links
that allow DEED to automatically create Bills of Material (BOMs) from
AutoCAD drawings. By integrating DEED into an AutoCAD environment, AutoCAD
users can directly view PDM attributes or write BOM and other reports
directly onto drawings. Among the AutoCAD features added to DEED 3.0 is
new command support from within AutoCAD to add drawing title block
attributes to DEED, including drawing number, description and revision,
size, drawn by, and project. This command dynamically links the drawing to
its associated parts/products/assembly/components so any changes made to
drawings automatically update BOMs and related documents. This new linking
feature will prove to be a real asset to users who are seeking to
interconnect their PDM packages with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP)
software. In addition, these new automatic links between the drawing items
and document association list reduces the number of input steps by as much
as 50 percent. The DEED interface has also been improved to make it even
easier to locate parts and drawings stored in the database.

DEED also now supports six approvals for drawings and documents prior to
drawing check-in for greater security.

DEED 3.0 includes an easy-to-learn and use Configuration Management Tool
that gives Windows, Windows 95, and Windows NT users extensive control
over drawings and documents. The DEED Configuration Management Tool gives
engineering departments a comprehensive check-out/approval/check-in
procedure for CAD/CAM documents and drawings by placing all controlled
documents in an electronic "vault" for access by authorized users. Users
can manage CAD, text, spreadsheets, and a wide variety of document types.
Links can easily be set to launch AutoCAD, other CAD systems, graphics
systems, graphic viewers, text editors, spreadsheet packages - virtually
any Windows application document type with a recognizable file extension.
Documents and drawings can be checked out of the vault, and revisions are
submitted back through an approval cycle before they can be stored back in
the vault to eliminate mishandling and unauthorized changes. And with
added support for the Microsoft's high-performance 32-bit architecture,
access to the vault is faster than ever.

New Licensing Fee Structure

DEED runs on any Windows 3.x, Windows 95, or Windows NT based system (an
80486 processor is suggested at minimum). DEED can be licensed for a
single user price of $795.

Bionic Knight has also introduced a new Server Pack licensing structure to
handle multiple concurrent users with associated per-user discounts. A
3-user server pack sells for $1,480 ($495 per user), a 5-pack for $2,100
($420 per user), a 10-pack for $3,960 ($369 per user), a 20- pack for
$7,670 ($385 per user), a 50-pack for $18,560 ($372 per user), and a
100-pack for $35,100 ($351 per user). All server pack pricing includes a
free year of support services, which includes automatic upgrades and
telephone support.

Bionic Knight Software Inc. was founded in 1987 to deliver specialized
engineering software tools to mechanical engineers and CAD/CAM design
professionals. The company's software development team has more than 14
years of experience in engineering design and manufacturing processes and
holds a variety of circuitry patents. Today, these professionals are
plying their expertise to develop leading-edge, object-oriented data
management, product assembly, parts database, and related solutions to
help engineers extend quality control, enhance productivity, and reduce
waste and cost
