LEADING INTERNET SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS NT ON CD-ROM AVAILABLE FROM DIGITAL

New CD is "one-stop" resource for building Windows NT based Internet
Solutions

MAYNARD, Mass., April 24, 1996 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced the availability of the Digital Internet Road Map for Microsoft
Windows NT, a CD-based collection of software for implementing Internet
solutions for the Windows NT environment. The Internet Road Map CD allows
customers to easily develop complete Internet solutions with
"try-before-buy" evaluation software that can then be licensed without
reinstallation.

"Our customers are increasingly demanding Internet solutions based on
Microsoft's Windows NT," said Rose Ann Giordano, Vice President of
Digital's Internet Business Group. "The goal of Digital's Internet Road
Map is to provide customers with a single source to access, test, and
purchase the industry's best Internet software for the Windows NT
platform."

The Internet Road Map for Windows NT contains commercial software
applications that have been pre-tested on Digital's hardware platforms.
Both Intel and Alpha versions of the software are contained on the CD.
Because Digital individually selected and approved each software program,
users are assured the highest quality of pre-tested, reliable Internet
software.

Each of the commercial products on the Road Map has a 30-day trial license
so users can test, evaluate and integrate software to construct a
customized Internet solution. All of the products distributed via the CD
are fully functional versions and each contains instructions on how to
purchase a full user license from the vendor. When a license is purchased,
the software does not have to be reinstalled, so the user does not lose
all the work accomplished during the time the product was evaluated.

The Internet Road Map for Windows NT will be released regularly to provide
additional software choices, upgrades to existing software, and new
categories of Internet applications.

Road Map Contents

The current release of the Internet Road Map CD contains Internet software
for SMTP and POP3 mail services, Internet list and news services, and
domain name services. In addition, an extensive collection of Windows NT
freeware and shareware for the Internet is included. Specifically, the
following commercial products are on this release of the CD:

Microsoft's Internet Explorer

Digital has negotiated with Microsoft to include on the CD,
both the Windows NT version 1.5 release of Microsoft's Internet
Explorer browser and the Windows 95 version 2.0 release.
Internet Explorer is a full function World Wide Web browser
that supports all of the current HTML standards. Internet
Explorer is provided for both accessing the contents of the CD
and for exploring the World Wide Web.

NTMail and NTList

NTMail is a feature rich set of programs and services that
allows users to access their mailboxes via dial-up or LAN based
connection with maximum flexibility. NTList automatically
manages a list of e-mail addresses and can be integrated into
NTMail so users can set up one or more mailing list managers,
     controlling one or more lists.

DNews

A dynamic NNTP server, DNews implements a unique form of
loading that dynamically and automatically only pulls news
groups that are actually read on a server.

DNS

DNS is a robust solution to naming services that gives network
administrators greater control over name resolution and
assignments by bringing naming services within the local
     network.

Workgroup Web Forum

Workgroup Web Forum combines team collaboration with Internet
technology to provide file sharing and online conferencing
anywhere in a corporate network of the Internet by letting
teams of users easily upload, organize and distribute
information in a variety of formats.
