Cirrus Logic to Supply Internet Browser Display Solution for Diba Inc.

FREMONT, CALIF. -- APRIL 18, 1996 -- Continuing to demonstrate success in
providing semiconductor solutions for the consumer electronics market,
Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), today announced that its PC graphics
display controller with TV-out, the CL-GD5425, has been selected for use
in a new low-cost internet browser from Diba, Inc. that utililizes the
television for display and a handheld remote control for user
interaction.

Diba builds hardware, software and applications for the development of a
new breed of computing platforms referred to as Information Appliances
(IA). In addition to the internet browser, Diba plans to use Cirrus Logic
technology in an integrated phone and e-mail device. This device makes
sending e-mail as easy as making a phone call. A third application called
Diba Kitchen, is designed to mount under a kitchen cabinet and provides
for a convenient way to access recipes and nutritional information. Both
the e-mail and kitchen products use an LCD for the display.

The PC monitor and the television utilize different interfaces and data
format techniques. The CL-GD5425 bridges the gap between consumer
electronics and PCs by integrating a display controller and TV processing
support with scaling, flicker reduction, and a glueless encoder interface
that delivers high-quality TV display at the lowest possible cost.

"Diba is at the forefront of developing a new class of information
appliances that implement PC technologies," said Jim Fontaine, vice
president of marketing for Display Products for Cirrus Logic's Visual and
Systems Interface Company. "We are pleased that Diba selected our
CL-GD5425 to provide high-quality display on a TV, and are happy to be
working with them to bring a new information appliance device to the
market."

"The traditional thinking is that the PC is the only viewing device for the
Internet and other on-line information services," said Farid Dibachi,
chief technical officer for Diba. "We believe that consumers and
businesses desire to view information on other appliances, for example, on
the TV. Cirrus Logic's technology is an important component in making the
display of information on the TV clear and easy to read. User focus group
studies have given high marks for the quality of the fonts and images on
the TV display."
