CE SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES QUICKEYS 3.5

New Features Net Macintosh Graphics Professionals Increased Productivity

 AVAILABLE: BEFORE JUNE 30
 SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE: $119.00
 UPGRADE: $35.95

West Des Moines, Iowa, April 8, 1996 - CE Software, Inc., today announced
its plans to release by June 30, 1996, a new version of QuicKeys, the
industry's easiest, most complete tool for automating the Macintosh. The
company also announced that a Power Macintosh version of QuicKeys will be
available within 45 days of the 3.5 release. Users who upgraded to
QuicKeys 3.5 will be able to download the PowerMac version from CE
Software's Web site at no charge.

QuicKeys is a personal productivity tool that eliminates any repetitive and
mundane daily computing task performed on a Macintosh. With QuicKeys,
users can designate a single key, button, or icon to perform a simple
function - like opening a folder - or a complex routine - like a series of
formatting commands you may perform often, all without requiring the user
to learn a programming language.

"QuicKeys is a mission critical business application for Macintosh graphics
professionals," said Christian Gurney, vice president of product lines for
CE Software, Inc. "With version 3.5 we're making every effort to ensure
that QuicKeys will deliver the necessary functionality to be as useful as
possible in a Macintosh user's day-to-day work situation by adding a host
of new features and compatibility to the product while simultaneously
improving ease of use."

TRIGGERING SHORTCUTS WITH TOOLBARS AND PALETTES

In QuicKeys version 3.5, users can create Toolbars and Floating Palettes
for triggering shortcuts. Toolbars are anchored to an edge of a user's
screen, while Floating Palettes hover in the foreground and can be moved
around. Both the Toolbars and Floating Palettes can be created to perform
shortcuts in specific applications or universally across all applications.
With Click-and-Go Palettes, which can be displayed on screen with a single
keystroke, the shortcut is activated by clicking a button or typing a
single keystroke. Once the shortcut is selected, the Click-and-Go Palette
is hidden.

BATCH PROCESSING

To help users execute a QuicKeys sequence on multiple documents, version
3.5 includes a Batch Processor extension which operates by opening each
document located in the source folder, one at a time, then performing the
desired QuicKeys sequence, until all the files in the source folder are
processed.

For example, consider an Adobe Photoshop user working on hundreds of
scanned images to be posted to a company Web site. In order to create the
right files, the images' color cast must be manipulated and they must be
converted to .gif format. With the new QuicKeys Batch Processor extension,
an image can be adjusted and converted once manually by the user while
QuicKeys "watches" what the user does, recording the exact sequence of all
the actions performed. Then the user can simply place all the remaining
images in one folder, and set the Batch extension to run the recorded
QuicKeys sequence on all the files in that folder. The tedium and
repetition of manually editing each image are removed, while the quality
and consistency of the work increase.

TAB-ORIENTED EDITING INTERFACES

Both the main editor and the sequence editor are revamped for QuicKeys 3.5.
Tab-oriented interfaces with adjustable, movable windows and
easier-to-read listings make creating and editing QuicKeys shortcuts
easier and more intuitive.

Sequencing, or the ability to perform a series of individual shortcuts to
complete a specific function, is a core element of QuicKeys. With version
3.5's revised object-oriented sequence editor and its improved interface,
users will now be able to more easily fine tune all their QuicKeys
sequences, still without having to learn a programming language. The
revised sequence editor now features numbered steps and a "more info"
option which will show the details of each step without opening it.
Complex sequences are also easier to write with the revised Jump extension
utilizing QuicKeys' new line-numbering technology. The Jump extension
automatically modifies its line numbers as a sequence is edited. To assist
users in debugging their sequences, QuicKeys 3.5 provides an optional log
file that can be written when a sequence is executed.

MORE POWERFUL SEQUENCE RECORDING

With this release, the QuicKeys recording functionality is revised to
enable users to easily and automatically create sequences that are more
reliable than ever before. With QuicKeys 3.5 nearly every recorded
sequence is ready for immediate use without any modifications from the
user.

PHONE DIALER AND NEW MAC OS EXTENSIONS ADD NEW CAPABILITIES

With QuicKeys 3.5 each Phone Dialer shortcut will now store its own dialing
configuration data, and there will be new support for PC Card connections.
Version 3.5's MacOS Specials Extensions replaces the System 7 Specials,
with new features enabling users to select which OpenTransport protocols
they want to use, as well as turn Program Linking on and off. QuicKeys 3.5
will also deliver a number of compatibility and reliability improvements
enabling the product to work seamlessly with the latest versions of the
MacOS and the most popular applications software.

QuicKeys users are anxiously awaiting the new features version 3.5 will
deliver. Dr. Mel Martinez, the FUSE Satellite Control Center Developer for
Johns Hopkins University, said, "QuicKeys has been so indispensable and
incredibly useful on my Mac systems over the last few years that it
boggles the mind to realize how much more powerful and easy to use it will
be with the new features such as toolbars, floating palettes and batch
processor! A 'must have' addition to any Macintosh!"

Chris Schmalz, senior technical support specialist for Macmillan Computer
Publishing, said, "A batch processor extension would make the upgrade a
no-brainer for my users. Our page layout people are being transitioned to
PCI Power Macs and System 7.5.3. Any utility as helpful as QuicKeys must
certainly be both compatible and take advantage of the new functionality
of an OS revision. I'm excited to see what they've (CE Software's) got
cooking."

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

QuicKeys 3.5 will be available in the US version by June 30, 1996, and has
a suggested retail price of $119.00. Users of version 3.0 may upgrade to

version 3.5 for $45.95. Users who purchased QuicKeys version 3.0 either 30
