CCH INTRODUCES 1996 IRS HOT BUTTONS

Multi-Media Approach to Tax Audit Issues Combines Valuable Information with
Practical Experience

(RIVERWOODS, IL., April 10, 1996) - CCH INCORPORATED (CCH) has introduced
IRS Hot Buttons, a Windows-based multi-media resource for accounting and
legal practitioners concerned about audits of federal tax returns. It is
among the first "electronic books" published by CCH, a leading provider of
tax and business law information, software and services to accounting and
legal professionals and their clients.

Offering a new way to do tax research, IRS Hot Buttons combines text and
eye-catching graphics to outline the industry-specific audit materials
that IRS agents use in examining returns; audio interviews with
professionals who have successfully guided their clients through the audit
experience; and a video introduction to the product and IRS audits in
general.

CCH 1996 IRS Hot Buttons places nearly 3,000 pages of IRS internal
documents - including audit guides from the IRS Market Segment
Specialization Program (MSSP), issue papers developed through the
service's Industry Specialization Program (ISP), and audit procedure
material from the Internal Revenue Manual - on a single CD-ROM.

This makes it possible for practitioners to determine just what agents will
be looking for when examining a specific type of individual or business -
the IRS' own "hot buttons" that will trigger an audit or become the focus
of one.

"This kind of in-depth information is vital to tax practitioners both
before and after an audit of their clients has been opened," said Larry
Britten, assistant product manager, CCH. "If you have a new client in an
industry you aren't familiar with - anything from commercial fishing to a
funeral home - you want to know where the potential audit triggers are.
Then you can help ensure the client's chances of being audited are
minimized, and there will be few surprises if an audit does take place."

The 1996 IRS Hot Buttons disc provides inside IRS information on 42
specific industries, professions and topics, from air charters to
wineries, architects to taxi drivers, as well as general audit guidance on
all business and individual returns. Of special interest to some
professionals may be the extensive coverage of the health care industry.
Six topics of procedure complement industry-specific material, so
practitioners can trace the steps of an audit - from the selection of the
return to the selection of the auditor.

The graphic icons on the screen guide users to Specialty Lists or initiate
keyword searches. Many have hypertext links that make it easy to navigate
from one document to another. Also, every document can be printed out or
copied into a Windows-based word processor.

In addition, users may annotate or add their own information to a topic
they are researching, creating a personalized file that can easily be
shared with colleagues. A paperclip icon appears at the top of the topic
to mark the annotated material.

Expert Input

Of special value to the practitioner in CCH's 1996 IRS Hot Buttons are "Pro
Talks," featured in many of the specialty areas. In these audio segments
(which also appear simultaneously on the screen in text form), experienced
practitioners from around the U.S. offer their own tips on what the IRS
has looked for on their clients' returns and the actions they took on
behalf of those clients.

"There's nothing like hearing fellow professionals recount their
experiences in their own words," said Britten. "These are insights from
practitioners who've been in the trenches on behalf of their clients, and
trying to keep their clients out of trouble with the IRS in the first
place."

CCH IRS Hot Buttons also includes "Trends," a library containing two years
of CCH news stories on the changing field of IRS audits. In addition to
the CD-ROM disc, CCH IRS Hot Buttons includes a booklet with over 300
pages of exhibits and charts from the IRS, such as the actual checklists
and flowcharts used in auditing taxpayers as diverse as foreign athletes
and bed-and-breakfast owners.

System Requirements

For best performance, CCH suggests that CCH IRS Hot Buttons be run on a 486
or better processor with 8 MB of RAM. A 386 processor and 4 MB of RAM is
the minimum configuration. Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher, an SVGA
display capable of 256 colors and a double-speed CD-ROM reader are also
required. Not required, but highly recommended, is an 8 or 16 bit Sound
Blaster" or compatible sound card, with speakers, for playing the "Pro
Talks" audio clips, and a quad-speed CD-ROM drive.

The price for CCH IRS Hot Buttons is $199 and includes the disc, Charts and
