BORLAND DEMONSTRATES DELPHI 2.0 INTERNET SUPPORT

DELPHI WINS "JOLT COLA AWARD" FOR BEST DEVELOPMENT TOOL

SAN FRANCISCO -- March 29, 1996 -- At a customer event held this week at
the Software Development '96 conference and exhibition, Borland
International Inc. demonstrated how developers can seamlessly integrate
Internet technologies on both the client and the server side of
applications created using Delphi 2.0. Also at the conference, Delphi
received the "Jolt Cola" award for Technical Excellence in a field which
included Microsoft Corporation's Visual C++ and Visual Basic, and
SunSoft's Java.

Delphi is Borland's high-performance client/server and Windows application
development tool. Delphi 2.0, which was introduced earlier this month, is
rapidly gaining customer acceptance due to its suite of powerful client
and server development tools that provide large corporations and
government organizations with a competitive advantage through the ability
to build more robust applications in shorter amounts of time.

Borland's presentation demonstrated how Delphi can use Microsoft's recently
announced Internet technologies, including the Internet Control Pack,
ActiveX controls, and WinInet and ISAPI application programming interfaces
(APIs), to create a Delphi web browser client application running on
Windows 95, and a Delphi web server application running on Windows NT.
Delphi components that support these new Microsoft technologies are now
available to customers electronically on Borland's CompuServe forums and
World Wide Web site Tech Info Page. Borland also announced plans to add
server support for Netscape's NSAPI as well as other popular web server
APIs.

"By supporting emerging Internet technologies, Delphi gives developers a
competitive advantage in creating high-performance Internet applications,"
said Michael Greenbaum, vice president and general manager of Borland's
Client/Server Development Tools Group. "Delphi's object-oriented
architecture allows customers to extend applications to take advantage of
powerful technologies for client/server and Internet development."

The Delphi 2.0 product line is now available in three versions designed for
specific types of developers. Delphi Client/Server Suite 2.0 for corporate
client/server developers; Delphi Developer 2.0 for professional developers
doing local and LAN-based development; and Delphi Desktop 2.0 for
individual programmers. Delphi is the only completely object-oriented
development tool for Windows and client/server development that combines a
two-way visual programming environment, a high-performance optimizing
native code compiler and scalable database tools. Delphi 2.0 features a
32-bit optimized native code compiler that is 15 to 50 times faster than
P-code interpreters, such as Powersoft's Powerbuilder and Microsoft's
Visual Basic.
