NEW REPORTING AND QUERY TOOL FOR WINDOWS 95 AND WINDOWS NT

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- April 1, 1996 -- Borland International Inc. today
announced it has begun shipping ReportSmith 3.0, a new release of its high
volume, client/server reporting and query tool for Microsoft Windows 95
and Windows NT operating systems. ReportSmith 3.0 includes a set of tools
for creating sophisticated columnar, crosstab, and form reports using
"live" data, while working with local tables or large corporate
client/server databases.

"ReportSmith 3.0 enables users of all levels to work more effectively and

Some of the new features in ReportSmith 3.0 include:

- Full 32-bit functionality and support for all new operating system
  features of Windows 95 and Windows NT
- Updated native drivers for accessing 32-bit client libraries from
  Sybase, Oracle, Informix, Microsoft SQL Server and Gupta SQLBase,
  as well as 32-bit ODBC drivers for accessing other databases
- True multitasking so that users can get other work done while
  ReportSmith processes and prints reports
- Support for PC and SQL databases in one version
- A new API layer for controlling ReportSmith from other applications
- Tight integration with Delphi 2.0 through data source sharing and
  simple parameter passing

SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICES AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

ReportSmith 3.0 is included in Developer and Client/Server Suite versions
of Delphi 2.0. The standalone package of ReportSmith 3.0 is available for
an estimated street price of $179.95. Previous owners of ReportSmith may
upgrade to ReportSmith 3.0 for an estimated street price of $129.95. All
prices are in U.S. dollars and apply to the U.S. and Canada only. Dealer
prices may vary.

ReportSmith requires a 386DX-based PC or higher, and Microsoft Windows 95
or Windows NT 3.51 or later. Customers are recommended to have 16
megabtyes of memory for Windows 95 and Windows NT, and at least 9Mb of
hard disk or LAN file server space.
