FULL PRODUCTION OF POPULAR, NEW RACKMOUNT FORTRESS UPS NOW UNDERWAY

NECEDAH, WI, April 1996 - Best Power Rackmount Fortress UPS are now in full
production. The three rackmount models, initially available include 720VA,
1020VA, and 1420VA units.

Market acceptance has been strong and the backlog of orders is now being
filled, says Brian Crowe, Best Power vice president of sales.

Best Power, a unit of General Signal, is targeting internetworking and
communications users with the new rackmount version of its server- sized
patented Fortress no-break UPS. Ideally suited for the high- growth
segment of the internetworking industry, the Rackmount Fortress is aimed
at the rapidly expanding number of users of servers, hubs, routers, and
other rackmounted equipment.

The rackmount units are a natural outgrowth of our very successful Fortress
UPS line as more networking users elect to put their most important
equipment on racks, says Crowe. The Rackmount Fortress is more compact
(only 3.5 inches high) and uses less rack space than any other UPS in its
size range. In fact, the Rackmount Fortress UPS is smaller (two-thirds the
size of Smart-UPS ) and lower priced than competitive standby and
double-conversion products, Crowe emphasizes.

Rackmount Fortress list prices are $799 (U.S.) for the 720VA, $949 (U.S.)
for the 1020VA, and $1,149 (U.S.) for the 1420VA. All Best Power Fortress
systems come with the company s $25,000 Double Lifetime Limited Warranty,
which covers both the BEST products and the computer systems and equipment
they protect. (Details are available from BEST on request.)

Regardless of their compact size and value pricing, these Rackmount
Fortress UPS don t cut corners -- offering the same user-oriented and
protection features as Best Power s standard Fortress line. They have an
intelligent user interface with front key pad for easy customizing of
different configurations (unlike competitive systems, this doesn t require
additional software or connected computers). They offer full surge, spike,
brownout and high-line (potentially damaging overvoltage) protection. And
they use line-interactive technology to provide only clean, safe power and
to isolate protected equipment from power line problems.

Rackmount Fortress units can be installed in either relay-style or enclosed
racks and feature user-replaceable batteries with convenient front access
that doesn t require tools.

These new rackmount units are also equipped with a communications port for
interactive local and remote power management and automatic shutdown
capabilities. They are fully compatible with BEST CheckUPS, CheckUPS II
and SNMP interface and control products.

Best Power, a unit of General Signal, is based in Necedah, Wisconsin, and
is a leading manufacturer of uninterruptible power systems which protect
computers, information networks, and other critical systems from
power-line disturbances.
