Apple Introduces Two New Apple Education Series Solutions

CUPERTINO, California--April 15, 1996--Apple Computer, Inc. today added two
new solutions to its "Apple Education Series," a suite of 20 products
designed to help educators effectively integrate technology into the
learning process. The two new titles, "Writing and Publishing Tools" and
"Elementary Curriculum Connections," incorporate best-of-class software,
curriculum projects and support. Solutions can be purchased with any Power
Macintosh 5260/100, Power Macintosh 5400/120 or Macintosh LC 580, and
staff training is available as an option.

"Educator involvement is the single greatest key to the success of our
Apple Education Series products," said Dr. Terry Crane, Apple Americas'
senior vice president of education. "From concept through software
selection, testing and marketing, we listen carefully to our customers.
Our goal is to gather together the right selection of hardware, software
and services, and make sure they all work in a way that allows teachers to
spend their time teaching rather than struggling with the technology."

WRITING AND PUBLISHING TOOLS

"Writing and Publishing Tools" provides a collection of 15 software titles
that facilitate the development of writing, publishing and presentation
skills for students from upper elementary through high school. This
solution is designed to encourage the development of critical thinking,
analytical and communications skills which become increasingly important
as students prepare for the workplace.

The "Writing and Publishing Tools" solution spans every stage of the
writing process, from generating ideas to publishing a finished piece. It
also encourages students to move beyond traditional report writing and
into collaborative writing, oral presentation and multimedia-based
projects.

"Technology can help writers of all ages illustrate, animate, collect, and
connect our thoughts," said Stephen Marcus, Ph.D., National Writing
Project, University of California, Santa Barbara. "'Writing and Publishing
Tools' includes a comprehensive collection of software that gives writers
at all grade levels a way to communicate ideas more clearly."

ELEMENTARY CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS

"Elementary Curriculum Connections" provides a collection of 13
cross-curriculum software titles for students in grades 3-6. The product
includes 27 classroom projects designed to make it easy for teachers to
integrate computing into the curriculum, and adapt activities to different
learning styles. These projects provide an integrated curriculum approach
to the use of computers in the classroom and cover subject areas such as
social studies, math, language arts, science, art and music.

"Apple's new product provides teachers with a tool they can use to help
students learn and apply concepts across a range of subjects," said
Barbara Thorp, technology coordinator for Union School District in San
Jose, California. "The activities ask students to observe and analyze
relationships, think critically and communicate their ideas."

PRICING AND AVALIABILITY

The two new "Apple Education Series" products are available for education
customers only at U.S. $300 each when purchased with a Power Macintosh
5260/100, Power Macintosh 5400/120 or Macintosh LC 580.
