3Com Introduces New Addition to netWorking Partners Program; First
Qualified VAR Designation for Remote Access

Free Priority ISDN Line Ordering and Provisioning Headlines Offerings For
VARs Selling ISDN/Remote Access

April 2, 1996 -- LAS VEGAS (NETWORLD+INTEROP 1996/BOOTH 3157) -- Global
data networking leader 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) today introduced a
new addition to its netWorking Partners program, Remote Access Gold Seal,
the first program to offer a qualified designation and targeted programs
for VARs selling ISDN/remote access solutions. Headlining the program's
offerings is a service enabling VARs priority access to ISDN line ordering
and provisioning, free of charge, by calling 1-800-930-3COM. The service
is available beginning April 15.

"In developing this program, one of the core elements was understanding
that end-users look to VARs for complete remote access solutions, not
point products," said Steve Pataky, channel development manager for 3Com.
"Remote Access Gold Seal offers the one-on-one training, support and sales
assistance VARs need to become qualified in selling remote access. This
program, together with 3Com's full range of enterprise and small office
ISDN/remote access systems, offers resellers a complete package for
success in this market."

"Both Ingram Micro and 3Com recognize the important role of resellers in
increasing the numbers of corporations using remote access," said Kelly
Harvey, senior marketing manager for the technical products division of
Ingram Micro Inc. "3Com's understanding of channel dynamics coupled with
their solutions-based approach to programs and systems makes the company a
great partner in selling remote access."

"We're glad to see 3Com initiating valuable programs for integrators that
provide remote access technologies," said Alan Blaustein, president of
Maxnet Communication Systems Inc. "Services like ISDN line ordering and
provisioning help us take the hassle out of remote access for our
customers."
