Intervoice Licenses Voxware Technology for Multimedia Application Delivery

SKILLMAN, NJ (Feb. 20, 1996) -- Voxware, Inc., a developer of advanced
voice-processing software for multimedia computing, Internet, and
communications applications, announced today that InterVoice, Inc., has
licensed key elements of Voxware's ToolVox technology for use in
MediaConnect, a new multimedia product that delivers interactive images,
voice and music to multimedia PCs.

ToolVox is based on Voxware's proprietary MetaVoice technology, which has
an extremely efficient coding algorithm that enables high- quality speech
to be coded to very low bit rates, while maintaining low computational
complexity. ToolVox achieves 53:1 compression ratios and enables users to
speed- up or slow-down voice playback by a factor of 2, without changing
the original voice's pitch or natural character.

InterVoice will use the voice compression and processing capabilities of
ToolVox to enhance its existing products, and to create new multimedia
PC-based applications for personal banking, catalog ordering and other
self-service interactive information exchange activities.

"We selected Voxware's technology because it offers the best voice quality
at the lowest bit rates of any technology out there," said InterVoice
Senior Technical Director Skip Cave. "It not only enables us to store
compressed voice in far less room, but its speed-up and slow-down
capabilities will also enhance the flexibility of our interactive
information exchange solutions."

"We are very pleased that InterVoice has selected our technology as a key
component of MediaConnect," said Voxware President and CEO Michael
Goldstein. "This is yet another example of how ToolVox can be used both to
enhance existing multimedia business applications, and to create new
ones."
