Versit Calls for Final Industry Comments on Its Version 2.0 vCARD
Specification

The Old Standby Business Card -- A Staple Of Corporate Life Is Moving Into
The Electronic Age

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--February 20, 1996-- Versit announced today that it
is in the final stages of gathering industry comments prior to releasing
its Version 2.0 vCard specification.

vCard is a collaborative industry effort to define a common electronic
business card format. vCard has broad application within the
computer-telephony industry to enable personal information to be easily
exchanged both with and without wires, all without requiring the user to
re-type the information.

The vCard specification defines a format for capturing important
information about a person or group of individuals, such as their name,
address, phone numbers, e-mail user ID, photograph, and much more. The
vCard format is useful to a diverse group of software applications on any
operating system. vCards can be exchanged across the Internet using Web
browsers, sent as attachments to e-mail messages, and imported into
personal address book or phonebook software programs.

Some of the organizations participating with Versit on the review of the
specification include Campbell Services, Inc., Claris Corporation,
Counterpoint Systems Foundry, Four11, IntelliLink Corporation, Lotus
Development Corporation, Netscape Communications Corporation, Now
Software, Puma Technology, Ring Zero Systems, Inc., the Salutation
consortium, Starfish Software, Symantec Corporation, and the University of
Michigan Information Technology Division. These organizations represent
multiple industry segments which include Personal Information Managers
(PIMs)/Contact managers, Internet clients, on-line service providers,
electronic messaging, and others.

The Versit vCard specification is available for review and comments. All
interested parties are encouraged to join in the vCard review process. The
specification and review forum is available on CompuServe Information
Services (within the Versit Section, under the General Computing (GENCOM)
Forum). All comments received before March 10, 1996 will be considered for
inclusion into the V2.0 vCard specification.
