SUPERSCAPE DEMONSTRATES WORLD'S FASTEST 3-D VIEWER FOR THE INTERNET

-SUPERVRML VIRTUAL REALITY SOFTWARE WILL WORK WITH NETSCAPE, MICROSOFT WEB
BROWSERS, OPERATES ON STANDARD INTEL-BASED PCS -

NEWS RELEASE: 29 January 1996

Superscape, the leading provider of software tools for creating interactive
three-dimensional virtual worlds on personal computers, today demonstrates
a new product for viewing and exploring the Internet in 3-D.

The new software product, VisNet, will be distributed free over the
Internet starting next month. It requires no special hardware such as head
mounted displays.

VisNet was selected to kick off Demo '96 in the USA, an exclusive annual
gathering where computer industry executives, analysts and press preview
the newest, most advanced computer hardware, software and
telecommunications products.

"The use of virtual reality or real-time, interactive 3-D software provides
a more natural way to interact with personal computers," said David
Coursey, host of Demo '96 and editor and publisher of PC Letter, a
computer industry newsletter. "Advances in virtual reality will make
interactive 3-D user interfaces commonplace, making personal computers and
the Internet dramatically easier to use."

According to Dr. John Chiplin, chief executive officer of Superscape:
"VisNet lets people experience a whole new level of interactive Web- based
entertainment, data analysis and training. As the leader in PC-based
virtual reality for the past ten years and publisher of the first PC-based
virtual reality authoring software, we have brought our experience and
third generation technology to bear on software tools for creating and
exploring 'live' virtual worlds on the Internet." Dr. Chiplin said that
VisNet is aimed initially at the thousands of Superscape customers that
have created virtual worlds using Superscape authoring tools. VisNet will
be able to input both VRML and SuperVRML files.

VisNet is the world's fastest 3-D interactive viewer on standard
Intel-based personal computers. By extending and enhancing the powerful
capabilities of viewers which are based on VRML (Virtual Reality Modelling
Language), the industry standard for defining virtual worlds, the company
was able to develop VisNet to be on average five to ten times faster than
the first generation of 3-D viewers.

Tests to determine the speed of a viewer or browser measure the rate at
which virtual "scenes" change based on the actions or changes in viewpoint
of the viewer. "We fully support the ongoing VRML standard as well as
extending the capabilities and performance through SuperVRML technology",
said Ian Andrew, founder and Vice President of Operations for Superscape.

"Our SuperVRML technology for visualising 3-D 'intelligent' scenes gives
users richer, more realistic virtual worlds than are possible using any
other software."

The VisNet 3-D interactive viewer, which requires a minimum 486 processor,
runs on all standard Windows platforms including Windows 3.1, Windows 95
and Windows NT. The viewer will operate as either a standalone helper
application or an inline plug-in for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft
Explorer Web browsers.

The VisNet viewer features a control panel for consistent navigation
through the universe of virtual worlds on the WorldWide Web and for
controlling the behaviour of intelligent objects such as calculators,
clocks and cars.

The VisNet 3-D interactive viewer is based on Superscape's SuperVRML
technology which has a ten year heritage as the standard software for
PC-based virtual reality modelling and application development. Superscape
continues to improve upon its own technology with the world's only Virtual
Clip Art featuring built-in intelligence and behaviours that offer faster
and richer 3-D world creation than competing products.

"I've built hundreds of 3-D worlds for clients using Superscape's products
and nothing's faster," said Gerald O'Connor of Summit Graphics. "The
proven development tools, wide range of import and export file support,
suite of image and sound editors and outstanding customer support make
Superscape authoring tools number one when it comes to virtual world
building."

New Virtual Reality Products for Consumers

In addition to the VisNet 3-D interactive viewer and VRT 4.0, the company's
complete virtual reality authoring suite, Superscape plans to introduce
several new authoring tools for small businesses, web developers and
consumers to easily and rapidly create virtual reality objects and
environments. To that end, the company is embarking upon an aggressive
marketing and promotional programme in the coming months.
