Spyglass Licenses Web Client Component Technology to SureNet

Spyglass Mosaic-Based Browser to Be Part of Internet Service Providers'
Solution

Naperville, Ill. -- Wednesday, January 31, 1996 -- Spyglass, Inc. (NASDAQ:
SPYG) announced today that SureNet, an Internet service provider in
Sherman Oaks, Calif., has licensed Spyglass Mosaic Web client technology
for incorporation into its Web access package. The agreement allows
SureNet to incorporate Spyglass technology into its private label products
for accessing the World-Wide Web. Terms of the licensing agreement were
not disclosed.

"The agreement with SureNet supports our position as the leader in embedded
component technology for the Web," said Marc Miller, executive vice
president of Marketing for Spyglass. "Our partner-based business model
allows other companies, such as SureNet to develop Internet products in
the shortest possible time, while providing us with a network of strong,
long-term partners as the Internet develops into an invaluable tool for
businesses and individuals."

Spyglass currently licenses its technology for accessing the Web to some 56
customer/partners including AT&T, Digital Equipment Corp., IBM, Microsoft
and Oracle. These customers embed Spyglass technology in more than 145
Internet-based products and services including connectivity packages,
database solutions, on-line services, and a variety of end-user desktop
applications.

"We evaluated the available Web client technology and found that no one
else could provide us with the open technology tools to allow us to
develop our custom browser for our users," said SureNet president Edward
A. Mickus. "Our strategy calls for us to develop our own branded Web
browser and Spyglass was willing to work with us to meet those needs."

SureNet is establishing a nationwide computer and telecommunications
network to provide full-service direct Internet access to individuals,
small businesses, and corporations, according to Mickus.
