SoftArc's FirstClass Designated Top E-mail Product by Windows Magazine

MARKHAM, Ontario, January 31, 1996-SoftArc Inc.'s FirstClass has been named
the year's recommended e-mail package by Windows Magazine. SoftArc, the
number four vendor of LAN-based e-mail and groupware worldwide, received
top honors in the February issue of Windows Magazine for its FirstClass
Server for Windows NT. The "WIN 100 Software Awards" recognizes the 100
best software products of 1995 and is intended as a buying tool for
readers making 1996 software purchases.

"Since its introduction last September, the FirstClass Server for Windows
NT has taken the e-mail/groupware market by storm," stated Steven Asbury,
president of SoftArc Inc. "The speed with which the Windows server is
being implemented validates our belief that organizations need a
cross-platform, client/server messaging solution. The positive recognition
the product has received from both users and the editorial community
confirms that FirstClass is not only filling a void, but surpassing
expectations. This 'WIN 100' award marks the beginning of a year of
explosive growth for SoftArc."

The editors of Windows Magazine compiled the "WIN 100" by voting on their
top 100 favorite products that received editorial mention in the
publication during 1995. A list of hundreds was narrowed down to find the
best applications for everything from accounting software to X Windows.
Once the final 100 had been chosen, the winning products were broken down
into categories. FirstClass was the recognized product in the e-mail
category.
