Rogue Wave's DBFactory builds business objects from relational databases
using graphical environment and code generation

C++ classes created automatically by selecting tables or individual fields

CORVALLIS, OR - January 23, 1996 - Rogue Wave Software today announced
DBFactory, a graphical code-generator that enables developers to quickly
build C++ classes, based on information from a database, that represent
business objects such as customer information tables. The associated
documentation for each class is also generated automatically.

With DBFactory, a developer can quickly create DBTools.h++ classes by using
an intuitive, point-and-click interface to select the database elements to
be represented in the generated code. Selections can be modified with
on-the-fly queries or user-defined information. DBFactory then generates
C++ header files, C++ source code files, and documentation files. Since
the generated code is DBTools.h++ code, it is portable across Windows and
UNIX operating systems, and provides a common API to leading relational
databases.

Exclusive Style File Lets Users Tailor Generated Code

DBFactory automatically generates two C++ classes for each business object
using its default Style File. These include a data mapping class and a
database interface class. Users can create their own Style Files so that
generated code meets individual or company design guidelines. For example,
a Style File could generate just one class for each business object
created.

Objects Easily Update When the Database Changes

DBFactory protects code that developers have added. When the database
changes and the C++ code is regenerated, DBFactory identifies the code
that was added manually and preserves it.

"DBFactory eliminates repetitive, time-consuming and error-prone coding
tasks, ,"said David Rice, product manager for database products. "Its
ability to preserve user modifications is key to its effectiveness in
creating maintainable, mission-critical applications."

Price and Availability

DBFactory is priced at $995 for a single-user license. Site licenses may
also be purchased. It is available immediately. DBFactory supports the
Windows NT operating system, with support for other UNIX and Windows
platforms available first quarter 1996.

Rogue Wave Software: Tools for cross-platform developers.

Rogue Wave Software is a leading supplier of class libraries and
industry-standard software components for developers building cross-
platform applications that run in both the UNIX and Windows environments.
Founded in 1989, the company shipped the first commercially available
library for the popular C++ programming language in 1990.

Rogue Wave markets five major product lines:

FOUNDATION PRODUCTS. C++ libraries that include data structures,
collection classes and other basic classes such as date and time.
 Rogue Wave's Tools.h++ 7.0 encapsulates the new Standard C++
 Library.

DATABASE PRODUCTS. C++ libraries providing portable, object-oriented
access to relational database management systems (RDBMs) including
Oracle, Informix, Ingres, Sybase and ODBC.

VISUAL PRODUCTS. zAPP Developer's Suite provides a complete,
visual application framework for developing cross-platform applications.

DISTRIBUTED PRODUCTS. C++ class libraries that provide an
object-oriented interface to Inter-Process Communications (IPC)
 and network communication services.

MATH PRODUCTS. Libraries for manipulating arrays of numbers, performing
advanced mathematical calculations, and performing currency calculations.

Rogue Wave is a privately held U.S. corporation with approximately 160
employees. The company markets its products in the U.S. and
internationally through its direct sales force, distributors, VARs, and
OEMs. Rogue Wave's OEM/VAR partners include Sun Microsystems,
Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Silicon Graphics, Cray Research, Tandem,
Intergraph, Siemens-Nixdorf, Borland, and others.

In September, 1995, Rogue Wave merged with Inmark Development Corporation
of Mountain View, CA., makers of the zApp line of GUI development tools
