NORWALK, CT-- What do Peter Gabriel, Sting, Clint Eastwood, The Muppets,
Michael Jordan and 45 million entertainment, sports and recreation buffs
have in common? Starwave, the media company forging new ground in the
electronic publishing universe. Mike Slade, president and CEO of Starwave,
will deliver the opening address at intermediaWORLD '96 on Tuesday, March
5 from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. intermediaWORLD will be taking place March 5 - 7,
1996 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.

Starwave Corporation was launched in 1993 by investor Paul Allen,
co-founder of Microsoft. Starwave is demonstrating that original on-line
content and interactive information can, if well-executed, draw viewers --
and advertisers -- in significant numbers. Opening address presenter Mike
Slade describes the company's approach, "Create captivating content, marry
it to brilliant technology, then get out ahead, and run like hell."

Starwave builds products unmatched in their breadth, depth and
responsiveness to the on-line user. In the past year the company has
launched six on-line publications: Mr. Showbiz, ESPNet SportsZone, Family
Planet, Outside On-line, NBA.com and NASCAR.com, along with CD-ROM's
profiling entertainers Sting, Clint Eastwood and The Muppets. Starwave's
next CD-ROM title is a collaboration with Peter Gabriel.

Mr. Showbiz, the "everything is showbiz" magazine, brings movie reviews,
entertainment news, celebrity gossip, and irreverent attitude to pop
culture. Mr. Showbiz is the most popular 'zine on the World Wide Web.
ESPNet SportsZone, created and built with partner ESPN, delivers the most
up-to-date college and professional sports news and pictures to fans
around the world. The Zone has more viewers on the Web than any other
destination site. Mike will share the cutting-edge ideas and plans that go
on behind the scenes of this technological and creative hotbed. He will be
joined by Patrick Naughton, Starwave VP of Technology, formerly one of the
key members of Sun's Java team.

"Mike Slade is an ideal keynote for intermediaWORLD '96," highlights Ellen
Levenson, director of industry development of REC's Media and
Entertainment Group. "Mike will share the cutting-edge ideas and exciting
plans that go on behind the scenes of this explosive company. Starwave has
been creating unbelievable products, and this presentation will recap the
past year and highlight what's new for '96 at Starwave."

Additional Speakers At-A-Glance

In addition to the opening address by Mike Slade, intermediaWORLD's
advisory committee and conference team have assembled an impressive list
of more than 70 industry professionals to present a variety of topics at
this year's conference. Speakers have been hand picked to offer a truly
multi-disciplinary approach to both technology and markets.

Market, Bud Colligan will focus on the Evolutionary Landscape, Yahoo

David Wilcox, senior vice-president at Dataware Technologies, Inc. and
moderator of Managing Both Ends of Your Network comments, "intermediaWORLD
is an ideal forum to discuss the real-world application of many new media
technologies and solutions. Our session, 'Can CD-ROM and the Internet
Change Your Business?' will focus on the specifics of bringing advanced
new media solutions successfully into the corporate environment, providing
considerations and guidance for organizations still evaluating the
potential."

Levenson concludes, "The information and knowledge gained by attending
these intermediaWORLD presentations will be invaluable to determining the
next steps for success in this innovative industry."
