PROCESS SOFTWARE SHIPS UPGRADE TO ITS FLAGSHIP WORLD WIDE WEB SERVER

Purveyor WebServer for Windows NT, Version 1.2, Provides Verity, Inc.'s
Topic" Search Engine, As Well As New Features To Facilitate "Intranet"
Management Tasks

FRAMINGHAM, MA, JANUARY 30, 1996 -- Process Software Corporation, a leading
World Wide Web software developer, today announced the availability of
version 1.2 of the company's flagship product, the Purveyor WebServer for
Windows NT. The newest upgrade to the company's award-winning line of Web
server software, Purveyor NT, version 1.2, includes Verity, Inc.'s Topic"
search engine to facilitate information search and retrieval of text and
HTML files, as well as enhanced management features that will promote the
use of the "Intranet" as an alternative to traditional groupware
solutions.

The Intranet refers to the growing use of World Wide Web technology within
organizations, on the corporate LAN, rather than for external publishing
on the Internet. According to a recent study conducted by ZONA Research
(Redwood City, CA), over one million Web servers will be installed in
corporate environments by 1998. Applied to internal networks, Web servers
allow companies to disseminate constantly changing information on demand
-- increasing the inter-departmental collaboration and productivity of
employees working throughout the enterprise.

"In addition to providing a more powerful suite of tools for Internet
presence developers, the new features in Purveyor NT version 1.2 were
designed to simplify the day-to-day supervision of corporate Intranets,"
said Dan Goldstein, product marketing manager. "Purveyor 1.2's enhanced
logging and management utilities provide an easy-to-use, versatile
environment for MIS executives monitoring the use and effectiveness of
distributed, Web-based networks."

Purveyor NT version 1.2 marks the first release embedded with Verity Inc.'s
popular Topic search engine. Topic, a robust, commercial- grade search
engine, is tightly integrated in the new NT Web server with the Internet
Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI), a high-performance API
co-developed by Process Software and Microsoft Corporation.

"ISAPI provides far better performance for connecting applications to
back-end databases than the UNIX-based Common Gateway Interface currently
used by most Web servers," Goldstein said. "Combined with the Verity
search engine, our ISAPI-based search application will allow end-users to
conduct high-speed, customized information searches for text and HTML
files on Intranet Web servers."

Goldstein added that the Topic search engine embedded in Purveyor NT
version 1.2 allows users to navigate indexed Web documents using
sophisticated queries constructed from a versatile set of boolean,
proximity, and wildcard operations. Module-based upgrades to the Topic
search engine will be available both through Verity and Process Software's
sales channels.

In helping to ease Intranet administration, Purveyor NT version 1.2 adds
full integration with the Windows NT Performance Monitor management
utility, and also features Enhanced Logging capabilities. Integration with
the Performance Monitor management utility allows LAN managers to conduct
real-time monitoring of Web server activity throughout the Intranet. The
Enhanced Logging features of the new release enable administrators to
better customize logging parameters.

"With these features, network administrators using Purveyor NT version 1.2
will increase their ability to track usage patterns on the Intranet --
allowing them to better manage the traffic and overall effectiveness of
the corporate Intranet," said Goldstein.

Other enhancements to features and functionality include increased
ease-of-use of Purveyor's Data Wizard, increased filtering capabilities,
and additional service and support offerings, among others, Goldstein
noted.

Purveyor version 1.2 for Windows NT is available at an average U.S. street
price of $595. Customers with existing versions of the Purveyor WebServer
for Windows NT can purchase an upgrade for $59 per server.
