PLS BRINGS POWERFUL SEARCH TOOLS TO INTERNATIONAL MARKET: MULTILINGUAL
CONCEPT SEARCHING AND ADVANCED RELEVANCE RANKING AVAILABLE NOW

(Rockville, MD, February 12, 1996) - PERSONAL LIBRARY SOFTWARE INC. (PLS)
announced today a major enhancement of its core search technology,
bringing to the international marketplace the same scalable capabilities
found in leading U.S. online and World Wide Web information services. The
latest release of PLS'S Callable Personal Librarian (CPL), a powerful
Application Programmer's Interface (API) tool kit for content-based
retrieval, brings European and Asian publishers the same flexible
development environment enjoyed for years by PLS'S English-speaking
information industry partners. CPL's industrial- strength technology is
the backbone of many of the largest online services and some of the most
heavily-trafficked Web sites.

EARLY USERS IMPRESSED:

"America Online is deeply committed to the International community. A vital
feature of our overseas services is that they fully support local language
and content," noted Barry Appelman, VP of Systems and Advanced Technology
at America Online, which uses PLS'S software to search more than four
hundred content areas on the AOL service. "PLS has done a great job of
internationalizing its search tools -- which has helped us build our
international operations quickly and effectively."

"PLS'S foreign language support should reinforce their reputation for
delivering the widest collection of valuable features in a proven, mature
technology," said Robert Raisch, chief scientist of The Internet Company,
a leading supplier of Internet services and technology that uses PLS
software to support several prominent U.S. and international web
publishers. "PLS tools provide our users with the power and flexibility to
reach the information they care about. PLS technology is simply the best
on the market today."

"We are committed to expanding our international customer base and working
with top-flight publishers, VARs and integrators around the world," said
PLS president Dr. Matthew Koll. "CPL technology is already at work
supporting the European online and corporate communities by making it easy
for users to search databases compiled in a variety of languages. In
addition, we re expanding our support for the Asian community. During 1996
we will be releasing extended features for the European community and
introducing a full-featured API supporting the Asian community, starting
with Japanese language capabilities."
