PLATINUM TECHNOLOGY AND SYSDATA INTERNATIONAL SIGN A CO-MARKETING AGREEMENT
FOR ENTERPRISE-WIDE BATCH CHECKPOINT/RESTART UTILITY; COMPANIES FORM JOINT
MARKETING PROGRAM TO PROVIDE TECHNICALLY INTEGRATED SINGLE SOLUTION FOR
BATCH APPLICATION CHECKPOINT/RESTART SOLUTION

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL, AND HOBOKEN, NJ, FEBRUARY 1, 1996. . . Addressing one
of the most time-consuming problems of managing system failure and
restartability of applications, PLATINUM technology, inc., and SysData
International, Inc., today announced they have signed an agreement that
allows PLATINUM to co-market SysData's QUICKSTART, the industry's leading
batch application checkpoint restart utility, as well as allow SysData to
co-market PLATINUM's DB2 based utilities. Under the terms of the
agreement, the companies will market these tools in the United States,
Canada, and Mexico.

As part of a technology strategy to provide enterprise-wide solutions,
PLATINUM will provide its database management customers with the ability
to use a single solution for reducing processing times, increasing batch
online concurrency and extending the life of their CPUs; for all major
languages, DBMSs, and operating systems using QUICKSTART.

"SysData's QUICKSTART has emerged as the world's leading technology
available today for batch application checkpoint/restart solutions," said
Scott Kane, PLATINUM's senior vice president of database management
solutions. "QUICKSTART provides a comprehensive solution for those
companies who need guaranteed integrity and restartability in all their
environments. By combining SysData's QUICKSTART with other PLATINUM
utility offerings, we can offer the most advanced technological solution
to our joint customers."

"We are very excited to be partnering with PLATINUM due to their experience
and extensive database management solutions," said Geoff Katz, SysData's
vice president of technology. "This partnership is important in providing
a robust single solution of technically integrated tools."

ABOUT QUICKSTART

QUICKSTART is a batch application checkpoint/restart utility that addresses
the increased online and batch system demands of the mainframe as well as
the challenges of providing a checkpoint/restart solution in the
distributed environments. QUICKSTART automatically restarts applications
regardless of the reason for failure, including application problems
(programs can be recompiled before a restart), database problems, system
failures, IPLs and power outages. QUICKSTART delivers a smaller and more
consistent batch window by:

Virtually eliminating database backouts at abend time
 Reducing database contention
Eliminating entire reruns of failed batch processes
 Increasing batch throughput
 Increasing online system availability
 Reducing resource utilization
 Reducing processing costs

ABOUT PLATINUM'S DB2 UTILITIES

PLATINUM offers the most complete suite of DB2 utility software for
maximizing system and DB2 object availability in production environments.
PLATINUM's database product categories include loading, unloading,
reorganizing, recovering, and compressing data. Effective use of utilities
can result in substantial savings of personnel overhead and system
resources (e.g., CPU time, disk space). Typical time savings range from 2
to 10 times faster than the utilities shipped with DB2.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

QUICKSTART is available on the following platforms: MVS, VSE, UNIX, AIX,
OS/2, and MS-DOS. QUICKSTART supports most leading DBMSs and languages
including: DB2, IMS, PL/1, Datacom, IDMS, Adabas, M204, Sybase, Informix,
Oracle, COBOL II, COBOL/370, IDEAL, Natural, MicroFocus COBOL, C, and many
more. Mainframe pricing begins at $20,750 and varies by CPU size. SysData
