O'REILLY & ASSOCIATES RELEASES WEBBOARD

Software Adds Online Conferencing to Web Sites

February 16, 1996, Sebastopol, CA--O'Reilly & Associates announced today
the release of WebBoard, an advanced multi-threaded conferencing system.
WebBoard, with a suggested list price of $249, enables webmasters to add
online conferencing to any Windows web server that fully supports the
Windows Common Gateway Interface (Win-CGI), including O'Reilly's own
award-winning server WebSite.

WebBoard was created in cooperation with independent developer Chris Duke
of Duke Engineering in La Jolla, California. Duke designed the product as
"a great way to attract and retain people to a web site. WebBoard is
perfect for Intranets as well as ISPs (Internet Service Providers) who
want to provide conferencing systems to their clients. Early users of
WebBoard are extremely positive. They like the easy installation and
administration and report that their WebBoard visitors enjoy the friendly
user interface." WebBoard's interactive conferencing provides a natural
forum for collaboration on projects and easy distribution of information.

WebBoard offers a full range of conferencing options, activity logs, and
user profiles. Virtual boards enable a single site to house up to 255
individual boards with unlimited numbers of conferences. This feature is
especially valuable to ISPs. WebBoard also includes remote administration
capabilities, private responses via e-mail, and powerful message handling
features such as search, preview, reply quoting, and automatic archiving.
The WebBoard package includes a comprehensive book, "Conferencing with
WebBoard", and full online Help. Technical support is available to
registered users, and a 60-day demo version of the product is available
from O'Reilly Software Online (http://software.ora.com).

CASE STUDY

Cyberia Communications, Inc. of York, Pennsylvania, began as a bulletin
board service. As the company moves its customers to the Web, staff
members have found that their customers enjoy communicating in
bulletin-board-type forums such as those hosted by WebBoard. Cyberia uses
WebBoard to host private conferences for its employees to communicate with
its customers, as well as to host public conferences about interesting Web
sites. Cyberia's site, including WebBoard, can be viewed at
http://www.cyberia.com/

Adam Viener, Cyberia's president, offers WebBoard conferencing to his
customers because "it provides a level of interactivity that you wouldn't
otherwise have with the Internet. We're developing Web pages for
businesses, and WebBoard is an added value for our customers." Viener is
particularly pleased about being able to use WebBoard's virtual
conferencing capabilities to include forums on customer sites.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

WebBoard's system requirements include: 486/66 Intel-based system or
higher; Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51 or higher, with TCP/IP
connectivity installed; WebSite or any Web server that fully supports the
Windows Common Gateway Interface (CGI) version 1.2 or higher; 16MB of RAM
