O'REILLY & ASSOCIATES ANNOUNCES WEBBOARD'S UPCOMING RELEASE

Web Conferencing System Software Adds Online Conferencing to Web Sites

February 9, 1996, Sebastopol, CA--O'Reilly & Associates announced today the
February 16 release of WebBoard, an advanced multi-threaded conferencing
system. WebBoard, with a suggested list price of $249, enables webmasters
to add online conferencing to any Windows web server that fully supports
the Windows Common Gateway Interface (Win-CGI), including O'Reilly's own
award-winning server WebSite, as well as others.

WebBoard's interactive conferencing provides a natural forum for
collaboration on projects and easy distribution of information. The
product enables webmasters to establish and organize ongoing web
discussions about any number of subjects simultaneously.

WebBoard was created in cooperation with independent developer Chris Duke
of Duke Engineering. The product provides a full range of conferencing
options, including public, private, moderated, and read- only conferences.
Activity logs give the webmaster current systems status reports, while
user listings and user profiles keep track of the audience. Virtual boards
or conferencing systems enable a single site to house up to 255 individual
boards with unlimited numbers of conferences. This feature is especially
valuable to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who want to provide
conferences as another service to their customers.

The WebBoard package includes a comprehensive book, "Conferencing with
WebBoard", and full online Help. Technical support is available to
registered users, and a 60-day demo version of the product will be
available from O'Reilly Software Online (currently WebSite Central,
http://website.ora.com/wbboard).

O'Reilly's Director of Software Products Gina Blaber expects users to be
from a wide range of organizations, including large and small businesses,
universities, and nonprofit groups. "Webmasters like the easy-to-navigate
interface, and the quick installation. They also appreciate the power of
fully customizable menu bars and conferences." Blaber predicts that
Intranet usage, where individuals within a department will use WebBoard
for collaborating on projects, will be a primary application.

Some of WebBoard's other features and benefits include:

remote WebBoard administration: lets webmasters keep tabs on their
conferences from any location;

special functions: private responses via e-mail, top-ten lists, and
bulletins allow webmasters to manage their audience and conference
content;

powerful message handling features such as search, preview, reply quoting,
and automatic archiving.

System Requirements
486/66 Intel-based system or higher;

Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51 or higher, with TCP/IP connectivity
installed;

WebSite or any Web server that fully supports the Windows Common Gateway
Interface (CGI) version 1.2 or higher;

16MB of RAM minimum (32 MB recommended);

5MB free disk space.
