FIRST DATA AND NETSCAPE OFFERING INTERNET PAYMENT PROCESSING SERVICE

NEW SERVICE AVAILABLE NOW

OMAHA, Neb. (February 20, 1996) -- First Data Corporation/Card Services
Group and Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today
announced the availability of an innovative Internet payment processing
service that will be compliant with the Secure Electronic Transactions
(SET) specifications from MasterCard and Visa. The ongoing development of
this service is evidence of a commitment by First Data and Netscape to
open standards and to providing the necessary infrastructure for
electronic commerce payment processing.

Merchants can enroll in the service immediately and begin offering credit
card payment services on the Internet. Internet merchants working with
First Data clients or with those of its CES/NaBANCO division can use the
service to expand their business presence and facilitate payment services
to the Internet marketplace.

Using one of Netscape's Commercial Applications products, Merchant System,
IStore, Publishing System or Community System, merchants collect customer
transaction data online. The information is then encrypted and transferred
directly to First Data which in turn provides real-time, online card
authorizations and settlement. Netscape's online General Store is
currently using this service which encrypts credit card data when
consumers purchase software and merchandise.

"First Data is very committed to developing effective and comprehensive
processing services for our clients and merchants in the Internet
marketplace," said Chuck White, senior vice president of First Data Card
Services Group's Electronic Funds Services unit. "By building
relationships with industry leaders such as Netscape and leveraging our
payments system expertise, we can give our clients and merchants the
opportunity to take full advantage of the emerging market for electronic
commerce services."

"First Data is pioneering a new era in business, one that will accelerate
the adoption of electronic commerce," said James Barksdale, chief
executive officer of Netscape Communications. "We expect the combination
of First Data's payment processing expertise and Netscape's server
technology and payment features will inspire a broad spectrum of
businesses to create an online presence, giving consumers access to
products ranging from airline tickets to office supplies right from their
desktop."

The service is available for major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, Discover, Diner's Club, Carte Blanche and JCB (Japan
Credit Bureau). Merchants can learn about this service by calling First
Data at (415) 842-4085, or sending email to emerchant@firstdata.com.
