NETSCAPE OFFERS MIGRATION PROGRAM FOR MICROSOFT BLACKBIRD DEVELOPERS

OFFERS DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP AND TOOLS FOR CREATING
INTERNET APPLICATIONS AND CONTENT

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (February 7, 1996) -- Netscape Communications
Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced a migration program for
Microsoft Blackbird developers wanting to create Internet content and
applications. Following Microsoft's announcement last week that it is
halting development of the current version of its programming tool
codenamed "Blackbird", Netscape is offering, through March 31, 1996, free
Netscape Development Partners Program memberships and software to enable
Blackbird developers to move quickly and easily to open standards-based
tools for creating live online applications.

Former Blackbird developers taking advantage of the special offer will
receive all the benefits of the Netscape Development Partners Program,
including software, tools, information and support to make it easy to
customize and extend the Netscape platform. The software includes free
beta versions of Netscape Navigator Gold, the premier version of Netscape
Navigator that enables personal Internet publishing; and Netscape LiveWire
Pro, a professional visual development environment for building and
managing online applications. In addition, Netscape is partnering with
Macromedia and FutureTense to provide former Blackbird developers with
discounts and beta versions on advanced Internet content creation tools,
including Macromedia Director and FutureTense's Texture, which enables
developers to provide Blackbird-like capabilities through Java.

"Netscape's migration program is designed to enable the hundreds of
Blackbird developers to begin building and deploying rich online
applications today based on open technologies, such as Java, JavaScript
and Netscape open APIs," said Mike Homer, vice president of marketing at
Netscape. "Through this offer, these developers can have a smooth
transition from proprietary content to open standards, taking advantage of
advanced software tools and the rich benefits of the Netscape Development
Partners Program to assist them in creating and managing Internet-based
live content and applications."

To take advantage of Netscape's migration program, Blackbird developers
must fill out and return a registration form and include their Microsoft
Blackbird developer registration number. The form can be obtained online
at http://developer.netscape.com/reg_form.html. The completed form with
Blackbird developer registration number can be mailed to Developer Program
at Netscape, emailed to devprogram@netscape.com, or faxed to the Developer
Program at 415-528-4120. More information can be obtained by calling
415-528-6951. Once registered in the Netscape Development Partners
Program, developers will receive regular updates from Netscape, online
technical information, technical support through news groups, other online
forums and early access to Netscape development tools.

With more than 12,000 developers currently enrolled, the Netscape
Development Partners Program is aimed at organizations and individuals
developing products or services based on Netscape's open standards- based
technologies, enabling a new generation of live online applications that
link people and information. The program is designed for the dynamic
nature of Internet development, providing online information, forums and
tools for commercial and enterprise developers, creative and design
professionals, value-added resellers, integrators and consultants.

Netscape Navigator Gold, now available in beta for downloading from the
Netscape Internet site, combines Web navigation, interactive electronic
mail and threaded discussion groups with point-and-click personal Internet
publishing. Netscape Navigator Gold combines all of the features of
Netscape Navigator 2.0 with easy-to-use personal Internet publishing
capabilities, making it easy for people of all Internet skill levels to
make their own home pages. The new product permits every user to become an
Internet publisher -- making content creators out of the millions of
current content consumers.

Netscape LiveWire, now available to development partners for beta testing,
is a visual development environment that enables application developers to
easily build and manage next-generation live applications and content for
Intranets and the Internet. The Pro version adds database connectivity to
