LabVIEW Software Under Development for Harris Computer Night Hawk and Power
Hawk Real-Time Systems

DETROIT - FEB. 21, 1996 - National Instruments - The Virtual
Instrumentation Company - will announce on Feb. 26 at the SAE trade show
that it has under development a version of its LabVIEW graphical
instrumentation software for Harris Computer System Corp.'s (HCSC) Night
Hawk and Power Hawk real-time systems. Scientists and engineers working
with these high-performance systems can use LabVIEW software as a
development, simulation, and testing tool for real-time projects. LabVIEW
software for Night Hawk and Power Hawk systems furthers the promise of
concurrent engineering, because users will be able to carry out key
engineering functions - from simulation to product design to testing and
manufacturing - on Harris Computer System computers. Harris will
demonstrate an alpha version of LabVIEW running on a Night Hawk 6000 in
the HCSC Booth (#5626) at SAE. National Instruments will demonstrate a
variety of PC-based instrumentation products in Booth #2842.

LabVIEW is a native, 32-bit general-purpose programming tool with extensive
libraries for data acquisition, instrument control, data analysis, and
data presentation. With LabVIEW, engineers and scientists build software
modules called virtual instruments (VIs) instead of writing text-based
programs. LabVIEW is available now for Windows 3.x, Windows 95, and
Windows NT computers; Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers; Sun
SPARCstations; and Hewlett-Packard workstations.

"Porting LabVIEW to a real-time computing environment has been our goal for
several years," said Tim Dehne, Vice President of Marketing for National
Instruments. "We are excited about working with Harris Computer Systems to
bring LabVIEW to the Power Hawk and Night Hawk platforms. Bringing
together the leaders in real-time computing and PC-based test,
measurement, and industrial automation will provide new solutions for
customers of both companies. It also will provide a much-needed link
between real-time simulation and testing, as well as other facets of the
product design and development process."

Mike Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Harris Computer Systems
Real-Time Division, adds "We believe that porting LabVIEW to Harris
Computer's real-time systems offers a total solution to instrumentation
and process control customers. These customers have a choice of platforms
from the Power Hawk single-board computer to the Night Hawk multiprocessor
system. They simply choose the package that best meets their needs."
