Nashoba Networks Announces Acton Token Ring Media Center

LITTLETON, MASS., JANUARY 15, 1996 -- Nashoba Networks, manufacturer of the
Concord Token Ring Switch, today announced the release of the new Acton
Token Ring Media Center. The Acton is the perfect solution for token ring
installations attempting to deal with the numerous interconnection
variations found in token ring cabling. The Acton Media Center is a
modular system that provides low-cost conversion options to such different
token ring cabling connections as Node to Node, fiber to copper, RJ45 to
DB9, Ring/Out to Lobe.

Nick Grewal, president and CEO of Nashoba Networks, comments, "We developed
the Acton Token Ring Media Center to help our customers alleviate the
headaches they encounter when attempting to install a token ring network
against a plethora of cabling interconnections. The benefit to the user is
a more streamlined installation process. When used in tandem with the
Concord Token Ring Switch, our customers have access to the most complete,
powerful switched network solution available today."

A perfect complement to any token ring switch, including Nashoba's Concord,
the Acton serves as the cabling front end, allowing a token ring
installation to accrue the benefits of token ring switching regardless of
the type or types of cabling used in the network. Rings on remote floors
that use fiber ring in/out connections can use the Acton Fiber RI/RO
module. The Acton 3 Port MAU is the solution in situations where one or
two dedicated servers need to be connected to a switched port.

Designed as part of a completely modular system, each Acton Module can be
used by itself with its own power connection, or can be configured in the
Acton Media Center Chassis with other modules. Modules, in a small number,
can be used in standalone mode, and as the configuration grows, an Acton
Chassis can be added. The primary function of the 19" rack mount Chassis
is to house and serve as a power source for up to 16 Modules. When used in
conjunction with the Concord, the power for the Acton Media Center Chassis
comes directly from the Concord's 12 volt auxiliary power connector. In
standalone mode, the Acton is powered by an optional 12 volt power
supply.

The various configurations for the Acton Modules are:

 3 port STP/UTP MAU (all RJ45 connectors)
STP/UTP RI/RO plus one STP MAU port (all RJ45 connections)
Fiber RI/RO plus one STP RJ45 MAU port
One Fiber lobe plus one STP/RJ45 MAU port

AVAILABILITY AND PRICING

Available December 1, 1995, the suggested U.S. List Price for the Media
Center 19" chassis is $300.00. Prices for the various Acton modules begin
at $325.00.
