MICROSOFT TO HOST LARGEST INTERNET DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE

Bill Gates to Unveil Microsoft's Internet Development Strategy

REDMOND, WASH. - FEB. 19, 1996 - Microsoft Corp. will unveil its Internet
development strategy to thousands of developers at the Professional
Developers Conference (PDC) - Building Internet Applications, to be held
March 12-14 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Bill Gates, Microsoft
chairman and CEO, will discuss the future of the Internet and the computer
industry and ways developers can extend today's technologies on the
Internet. Paul Maritz, executive vice president of the platforms group,
will present Microsoft's strategy for integrating the PC with the Internet
and ways developers for the MicrosoftR Win32R application programming
interface and OLE can extend their investments in this area.

The Internet PDC features highly technical sessions delivered by developers
from Microsoft product groups, breakout sessions that get to the
technological core of developing for the Internet, and developer-staffed
hands-on rooms for trying out the latest Internet technologies presented
at the conference. The interactive trade show will demonstrate firsthand
new Internet development tools, Internet server API (ISAPI) extensions,
and OLE Controls from Microsoft and more than 60 third-party vendors.

"Microsoft has 4.5 million developers who are developing to our platforms,"
said Doug Henrich, director of developer relations at Microsoft. "We are
committed to providing the tools, technologies and information they need
to make it easy to incorporate Internet functionality. We want to help
developers extend what they know today and bring them new tools to
innovate on the Internet and make it an active experience."

IN-DEPTH TECHNICAL SESSIONS

Developers can choose from hundreds of technical breakout sessions and will
learn firsthand how to implement the technologies and tools to develop the
next generation of 32-bit applications for the Internet. Topics of these
sessions will include the following:

 Internet client architecture ("Sweeper")
 OLE Controls
 Internet server technology
   (Microsoft Internet Information Server, etc.)
 Internet development environments
   (C++, Visual BasicR Script and more)
 Multimedia technologies
   (DirectX, Games Software Development Kit [SDK], RealityLab)
 Microsoft Foundation Class Libraries (MFC)
 Windows Sockets development
 Communications technologies (conferencing API, speech API)
 Internet application development
   (security, performance, internationalization, etc.)

The cost for the conference is $1,045; the preconference tracks cost $299.
