MICROSOFT WORKS WITH THE FOREFRONT GROUP TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR TEACHERS TO
USE INTERNET RESOURCES

Innovative Technology Available to Schools at No Cost

ORLANDO, FLA. (FEB. 15, 1996) - Now any teacher who loves to use the
Internet for learning but doesn't have a classroom connection can capture
Internet resources for in-class use thanks to a new agreement between
Microsoft Corporation and The ForeFront Group. Microsoft has licensed the
Windows operating system and Macintosh versions of ForeFront's leading,
off-line browsing technology - called WebWhacker - for inclusion in a set
of Microsoft" products and tools for exploring and publishing on the
Internet that will be available at no cost to K-12 schools.

With WebWhacker educators can capture groups of pages from the World Wide
Web for later use on a classroom computer that does not have Internet
access. WebWhacker allows students to fully simulate real- time web
browsing. WebWhacker also eliminates the connection time and costs for
on-line browsing, allows browsing at a quicker pace determined by the
speed of the classroom computer rather than the Internet connection, and
enables teachers to select Internet content that is appropriate for
students.

"From talking with educators, we know that teachers are eager to integrate
Internet educational resources into the classroom but haven't had an easy
way to accomplish that," said Jon Lazarus, vice president of education
strategic relations for Microsoft. "With WebWhacker, we identified a
creative solution that we want to make widely available to schools."

The WebWhacker software for both Windows and Macintosh platforms is one
component of the Microsoft Internet Jump Start CD for Educators, a robust
array of Internet-related products and tools, including everything a
school needs to build or enhance a web site and to even set up its own web
server. Microsoft will begin offering the free CD-ROM to K-12 schools this
week at the Florida Educational Technology Conference in Orlando.

"Microsoft's Internet Jump Start CD for Educators has tremendous value for
teachers," said Dave Sikora, president and CEO of ForeFront, which
launched WebWhacker in December 1995. "Fewer than 3 percent of classrooms
in America have direct phone lines installed, but now teachers can 'whack'
a web experience right into their classrooms."

"WebWhacker gives students the experience of searching for knowledge on the
Internet while allowing teachers to guide their investigations toward
relevant materials," said library media specialist Kathy Schrock, who
already uses WebWhacker at Wixon Middle School, South Dennis, Mass.

WebWhacker, educators can call 800-426-9400.
