MICOM CERTIFIED BY EMI FOR VOICE OVER FRAME RELAY

EMI becomes first carrier to certify voice over frame relay

Simi Valley, CA-- MICOM Communications Corp. earned EMI Communications
Corporation certification this week for its range of frame relay-ready
data/voice network integration products. MICOM's Marathon and NetRunner
Integration products met all compatibility requirements, including voice
tests, for EMI frame relay network services. The enhanced certification
from EMI includes certifying MICOM voice over EMI frame relay networks, in
addition to basic FRAD functionality.

All current models of MICOM product line are capable of integrating data,
voice, fax, and local area network (LAN) traffic over public frame relay.
This is in addition to the product lines' ability to send integrated
traffic over private line (leased, satellite, microwave, etc.) networks.

Ray Bermond, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for EMI Communications
said, "We are pleased that we can tell our customers that MICOM's frame
relay products meet our demanding specifications, passing our all our
tests with flying colors. It means our customers will now have a wider
choice of products to choose from when designing their frame relay
network."

The frame relay certification tests were conducted at EMI laboratories, and
the products were thoroughly tested using EMI's comprehensive Frame Relay
test procedures. A key component of the compatibility evaluation was the
testing of voice over frame relay at 8 and 16Kbps compression levels. The
results confirmed that MICOM's Marathon 2K, 3K, 5KT, 10K, 20K, Integration
Multiplexer models and NetRunner 75E, 500ET, 1000E and 2000E Integration
Router models using software release 4.2 are fully compatible with EMI
frame relay network services, including the transmission of quality
voice.

MICOM President and COO Gil Cabral said, "With the addition of EMI
Certification of our products MICOM customers can select EMI frame relay
services for their wide area network, knowing that the concept of voice
over frame relay has been independently tested and certified."
